Question of the Month
What was your biggest Senior Celebration and where was it held?
Elaine Swierszcz Gaither '71 says,
"It had to be Senior
, held at the Waldorf Astoria, Starlight Room. It was quite an affair, with dinner and dancing. After
, my friends and I, along with our dates, went to the Empire State Building, rode the Staten Island Ferry, watched the sun rise from Ft. Tryon Park (yes, I know now it faces west!), ate breakfast, and then headed to Rockaway Beach, where we all mainly slept the day away! It was one of the last times we were all together. Although, now, 45 years later, the remaining six of us try to get together, in whole or in part, every so often. (See picture)."

The Classes of 1966 and 1991
mark milestones at Reunion for 1s and 6s
More than 100 Catharinites returned to SCA on April 24 to celebrate Reunion 2016 for classes ending in 1 and 6. They hailed from Kansas City to Pennsylvania to Florida to here at home in the Bronx.
During the formal part of the presentation, Lucille Governale McKenna, along with Patricia Kawitzky Casey and Jeanne Vissa, all from the Class of 1966, announced an unprecedented class gift goal of $50,000. With more than 80 percent already pledged, the class expects to name a classroom before the end of the school year. The Class of 1966 had 51 members attend reunion, a record for a reunion.
St. Catharine's celebrated the arts from poetry to art displays to concerts and a dance performance in April.
The St. Catharine chorus was joined by Fordham Prep's chorus for a concert. A major feature was songs from Disney.
Students taking dance this year performed a variety of dance styles at the Spring Performance. The classes are taught by Janika Hawthorne who attended St. Catharine's.
Fine Arts night for the AP Studio art class represents the culmination of
two years of projects for their AP portfolios. Their portfolios consist of
24 pieces of art, twelve in the Breadth section where they demonstrate 2D
design through composition and mastery of different media. The other twelve
pieces are their Concentration, where they pick a theme and develop it the
same way a professional artist would, letting the theme develop and take
them to areas they might not have seen at the beginning of the process.
