Golf Committee

The SCAAR Golf Committee is in the final days of planning for the Golf Event on Monday, August 7^th. Hole Sponsorships are full but there are other sponsorship opportunities still available, as well as golfer openings. Please contact Nicole Moore ([email protected]) for more information.

The Committee had the privilege of meeting with Harry and Mary Fleegel, the founders of Homeless Helping Homeless. Their passion to help the homeless in our community is truly inspiring. Eliminating the need for encampments in St. Cloud and keeping people off the streets especially during the brutal Minnesota winters is extremely important to their mission. While their location is currently closed during renovations which are scheduled to be completed in September, they are still helping over 60 people per day providing them with daily necessities and connecting them to resources who can help. The money raised at the Tournament will help them complete the improvements to their building and increase safety for their residents and the surrounding community.

The Golf Committee would greatly appreciate a donation to our silent auction to maximize the amount we raise to support a huge local need and an organization that needs our support. We look forward to seeing you at Territory Golf Club on August 7^th!

Government Affairs Committee

The SCAAR Government Affairs committee is looking for more members and community liaisons. We have a meeting August 3 at 10 am at the SCAAR Office for anyone that is interested in joining.

We have new and lofty goals of getting eyes and ears on what local government is working on with the hopes of being the go-to association for all questions and proposed changes to homeownership rights in our communities. This is a great way to learn more about how each community impacts your client's rights to do what they want with their properties. To do that we need more members!

We welcome anyone and especially those who have or currently serve on any city, county, township or school boards, committees or sub-committees. Please let us know if you'd like info on what you can do to help.

*Short term rental ordinances. Big changes happened in many counties including Stearns. Many local

governments are looking to put regulations in place or tighten regulations they already have…what’s going on in the areas you work in?

*Investor/corporation rental

conversion restrictions on the state level? LLC’s included?

*Downpayment assistance for 1st generation homeowners

*Senior Citizen Deferred Property Tax Rule

*Cannabis/ Marijuana regulation
