WHAT'S NEW

Adult Education Funding at Risk

The federal budget request for Fiscal Year 2027 has been released and

unfortunately it once again proposes the elimination of federal

adult education funding. Congress will now begin the months-long

appropriations process that determines final FY 2027 funding levels.

Adult education changes lives, strengthens communities, and fuels our economy.

Nothing is final, but the outcome depends on all who support adult education.

Using COABE's 3-click campaign, please consider sending a message to

your Members of Congress urging them to reject the proposed elimination

of adult education funding. Your voice matters!

SCAEC Transitions Work Highlighted in CALPRO Brief

SCAEC was asked to contribute to the CALPRO Evidence to Action Brief to highlight their implementation of two models designed to increase student transitions: the SCAEC/SCCCD College Showcase and the Student Ambassador Program.

  • The College Showcase brings adult school staff, faculty, and partners together to learn about adult education programs and services at the college level.

  • The Student Ambassador Program engages former adult learners who have transitioned into college, career training, or employment to share their personal journeys with current student at orientations, class visits, and outreach events.

Pang Vangyi and the SCAEC Transitions Team have worked tirelessly to implement these programs. Their dedication to supporting adult learners is inspiring!
