Nominate a Deserving Student for the
Adult Education Students Succeed Program!
The nomination period for the 2020 Adult Education Students Succeed Program is now open. OTAN invites nominations of adult education learners who are successful as a result of the education received at California WIOA funded adult education agencies. This is a great way to recognize the hard work that an outstanding student has completed in the pursuit of their personal, academic, and professional goals and aspirations.

For more information, visit the Adult Education Students Succeed website.
Census 2020 Materials Available to Prepare Adult Learners for Census-Taker Jobs
The U.S. Census Bureau is launching the nationwide Census 2020 recruitment campaign. The California Adult Education Program has created a Census 2020 folder on the caladulted.org website to share information, documents and links related to census awareness, census job recruitment and census El Civics-related materials.

The Census Bureau needs to hire about 500,000 census-takers across the U.S. in 2020. Applying early to work as a census-taker is a great way for adult students to line up spring and summer employment opportunities.

Los Angeles USD Creates Census Curriculum

LAUSD's Division of Adult and Career Education (DACE) has created new Civics curriculum for the 2020 Census. The curriculum will help adult learners overcome common barriers to participation in the census.

In addition, they have also created marketing materials and teacher informational resources.

All are available at wearedace.org .

POLICY UPDATE
