WHAT'S NEW

Celebrating

Sherri's Next Chapter!

After 12 wonderful years together,

Sherri Watkins,

our Executive Director,

is officially retiring as of

June 30, 2026.

If you've worked with Sherri, you know one of her greatest skills is

building relationships. She has truly brought people together,

encouraging our members to collaborate with one another and

the community. Her ability to get everyone on the same page and

working toward shared goals has resulted in a consortium recognized

by the state and professional organizations as a model program.

Beyond her amazing work, it's the personal connection,

her sense of humor, and friendship that we will miss the most.

Sherri, we wish you well on your next adventure!

If you would like to leave Sherri a note, please

Fresno Mission City Center Tour

Members of the SCAEC Board gathered last month for an

informative tour of the Fresno Mission City Center.

City Center offers a space where individuals can find

a number of supportive services from more than

15 diverse organizations. The Center also has a dedicated

73-room residential tower, offering shelter for up to 450 individuals.

SCAEC members are exploring ways to partner with City Center

to provide services such as high school equivalency programs

and short-term career technical education programs.

SCAEC Student Ambassador Program 2026

This spring, with funds from the PG&E Better Together Giving Program, SCAEC launched the second year of the Student Ambassador Program. Seven adult school graduates visited adult schools in our region to share their stories. During these sessions, the student ambassadors highlighted the challenges they've overcome, their return-to-school journeys, and their subsequent achievements.

At the end of the program, the students were celebrated at a recognition luncheon attended by their families, PG&E representatives, Kiwanis Club of Old Town Clovis, and SCAEC board members and staff.

Please take a look at these inspiring videos by clicking each picture on the left. We extend our thanks to PG&E for their generous donation, Kiwanis Club of Old Town Clovis for providing the luncheon catering, and to Sconce Creative, along with Minarets High School video production students, for creating these testimonial videos.
