SCAEC Student Ambassador Program
The Student Ambassador Program is a great opportunity for adult learners to share their success stories and inspire others to achieve their goals.
Adult school faculty and administrators are encouraged to nominate a model student to represent the consortium at outreach events and orientation sessions.

SCCCD/SCAEC College Showcase
Recognized as a CAEP Model Program!
The CAEP Summit 2025 Program Committee has awarded the SCCCD/SCAEC College Showcase Model Program status.
This annual showcase, a partnership between SCCCD and SCAEC, brings together adult school administrators, faculty, and staff to learn about the programs and services the colleges in our region offer.
The program was recognized at the CAEP Summit and will be included on the Advancing CA Adult Education website under Model Programs.

CALPRO Leadership Institute 2026
CALPRO Leadership Institute 2026 applications are now available and due by November 17, 2025. The Institute, geared toward adult education administrators in their position for three or fewer years, will provide in-depth opportunities to explore, practice and reflect on developing your leadership skills.
The Institute will be held in-person and virtually over a total of six days from January through June 2026.

JOBTOBERFEST Career & Resource Fair
FRWDB is excited to announce that the JOBTOBERFEST Career & Resource Fair will be in held in Selma on Tuesday, October 18, 2025 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

EMS Corps Fresno
FRWDB, along with Valley ROP, American Ambulance, and other partners, is offering a 5-month program to train people in fire and healthcare careers. This program is specific to the age group 18-26.

Protect Adult Education Funding in FY26 Appropriations Bill
The House Appropriations Committee is preparting to vote on the federal fiscal year (FY) 26 Appropriations bill. This bill follows the Administration's FY 26 budget request and completely eliminates federal funding for adult education.
If this funding cut becomes law, millions of adults will lose access to programs that provide literacy, numeracy, digital skills, and workforce training. The impact would be devastating for adult learners, local employers, and entire communities.
Please take a moment to email your Representative, urging them to support restoring adult education funding.

Salinas Valley Adult Education Consortium Watch Party Presentations
SVAEC is presenting on topics which may be of interest to adult students, particularly undocumented students. Adult schools are encouraged to host watch parties at their sites to keep their students informed.
- October 24: How to start a business
- November 21: Validating Foreign Degrees
Morning and evening presentations are available on each date. The first hour of the presentation will be in Spanish and the second hour in English.

The Immigrant Legal Resource Center's Higher Education Technical Assistance Project is a statewide effort supported by the California Department of Social Services.
The ILRC website at www.ilrc.org lists a number of services available to immigrants to help clarify complicated immigration issues. If someone you know needs assistance, be sure to check out the community resources tab.

Our staff continues to be available to assist students with community resource referrals, academic and career counseling, financial aid assistance, and college application assistance.

SCAEC Student Ambassador Program

With funds from the PG&E Better Together Giving Program, SCAEC launched a program in which three adult school graduates visited adult schools in our region to share their stories. During these sessions, the student ambassadors highlighed the challenges they've overcome, their return-to-school journeys, and their subsequent achievements.
At the end of the program, the students were celebrated at a recognition luncheon attended by their families, PG&E representatives, State Center Community College District administration, and SCAEC board members and staff.

Santa Clara Adult Education Teaching Credential Program
Santa Clara Unified School District, in collaboration with Evergreen Community College, announces a FREE Adult Education Credentialing Program. Santa Clara Adult Education will support teacher candidates through the application process for their preliminary and clear credentials, while Evergreen Community College will offer the required coursework.

Root and Rebound Reentry Advocates
Root and Rebound works to support people navigating reentry and reduce the harms perpetuated by mass incarceration. In addition to other services, they provide free legal support for people with convictions/arrest records in California.
