Dear Valued SCAPA Member:
On behalf of the SCAPA Board of Directors, I would like to provide you with an update on the association as it relates to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
To date, South Carolina has 12 cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC).
As of this afternoon, Governor McMaster has decided to declare a State of Emergency. President Trump also declared a National Emergency.
SCAPA has been in contact with SCDOT, and we are waiting to hear back from them regarding some guidance that the agency will be putting in place. We will share this information with our members as soon as it is provided to us.
As a precaution, SCAPA has taken the following actions which are effective until further notice:
- Postponed the Partners in Quality meeting in District 4 on Monday, 3/16/20 indefinitely;
- Postponed the SCAPA Spring Member Dinner and Legislative Day indefinitely. We will work to issue refunds to all registered attendees for this event next week;
- The SCAPA Board will have a conference call during its regularly scheduled board meeting on March 31st; and
- We have also decided to postpone registration for the 2020 Summer Conference until April 1st. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor this situation and make a determination about the Summer Conference over the coming weeks.
Our staff is prepared and able to work remotely from home, and our plan is to continue providing our regular membership services.
Please contact me with any questions.
