School Safety Update
Dear SCBA Parents:
As you are all aware, school safety is important to all of us and everyone at SCBA wants our scholars and teachers to be at the safest school possible.
Along with relocating our Extended Care program and moving lunch into the gym, we want to make sure our teachers and staff are trained in the event there is an active shooter or intruder in the building. While this topic is hard to think about, it is important that our school faculty and staff are trained in best practices to keep everyone safe should this situation arise.
I have been in communication with Captain Coffer of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department about training and working with SCBA on updating our crisis plan. Captain Coffer referred me to a company called Strategos International. They work with schools and churches with training faculty and staff on what to do if there was an active shooter or intruder in the building.
SCBA has scheduled a training day for the school and parish staff and faculty on this topic on FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2022. This was not on the earlier updated January calendar that was shared; however, there will be NO SCHOOL for all our scholars on Friday, 1/28/22.
We will not be offering before or after care or the 2 year-old room so all of our staff and faculty can attend the training. While I hate having to schedule a no school day, I feel the training is very valuable and could be life saving for all of us.
Thank you for your continued support of our academy!
