Dear SCBA Parents:
This weekend is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. It is so hard believe that it has been 20 years since that terrible day. This week at our All School Mass, Fr. Don and the 6th grade class, paid tribute to 9/11. The scholars lit candles in honor of those tragic events of the day 20 years ago. It was a beautiful way to remember that day and pray for all those who lost their lives and for all those who worked hard to save lives.
I can remember exactly where I was that morning 20 years ago. I was working in a Catholic school that year. The school day had started - but news traveled fast among the faculty as to what was happening on the East coast. At lunch time - the discussion was what can we do? We need to do something. Being in Kansas - the best thing we could do as a school was pray. We gathered in the church that afternoon and prayed for our country. The scholars didn't have too much knowledge of what had happened, but we asked them to help us pray for our country and for those who were helping to rescue those who were lost. We prayed the Rosary as a school. It was very quiet and prayerful in the church.
What a gift it was to be in a place where we could PRAY for those who were hurt and helping that day. We are all so blessed to be in a place where at any time our scholars can pray and ask for God's blessings and support. What a gift you are providing your scholars!
Next Monday, September 13th - There is a PTO Meeting in the Commons area at 6 pm. Please plan on joining us to hear about plans for the upcoming year.
Next Friday, September 17th is our PTO Family Gathering in the Back parking lot. Team Rebuilt will be grilling hotdogs for us, families need to bring their lawn chairs, sides and drinks! We will park in a circle and open our trunks and enjoy the evening together. We have secured a FOOD Truck that will have some great items for sale that evening.
This week's manner of the week is be respectful of your parents, teachers and adults. Ask your scholar how they modeled this manner this week!
