Hello Friends,

It's the season of the senses. Michigan gives us a kaleidoscope of colors, sweet smells of apples and donuts, crunchy leaves underfoot, and soft, cozy blankets that keep us warm. It's hard not to be inspired by all that surrounds us this time of year, so grab a pen, some paper, and see where your senses take you.

’I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.’ ― L M Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”

— F Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

A note from Katie:

Hey illustrators! If you are like me, this summer was completely nuts and you are sitting in your studio dazed and wondering if summer actually happened or if it was just a dream. Let's make a deal to get back on track in the new year, ok?

Keep an eye out for the November newsletter, we'll be rebooting the '4 Out the Door' postcard campaign starting in the new year and laying out the deets then. In the meantime, there are some really cool virtual classes/conferences available from other regions coming up in the next couple months that you should check out here

AND most importantly, you had to have heard about the Narrative Art Award, right?? The winner gets an all-expense-paid trip to the SCBWI New York Winter Conference and not to be dramatic or anything, but that's kind of a big deal. The theme is "Tiny Wonders" and the submission deadline is October 21. Go for it! Get the scoop here

Have a fun October, talk to you later --Katie
