While much of the focus on retaining the socioeconomic, ethnic, linguistic and racial diversity of Somerville is appropriately on ensuring affordable housing, this month's SCC eNews emphasizes the importance of ensuring a strong workforce development system as well.
With escalating housing costs, access to a good job is necessary to prevent displacement. You can read about the latest developments in the push for a comprehensive, adequately funded workforce development system in this issue.
Also check out our new feature "What's New Around Somerville," and consider applying for a position on the Community Preservation Committee. You will also want to note some excellent online personal finance tools that we use in our Financial Literacy classes. And join us in greeting new staff as we say farewell to some SCC stars.
Until Next Time,
