On March 1, 2024 I was pleased and honored to step in to the position of NNJR RE. Peter Schneider made a decision to step down as RE and continue with his many other responsibilities as Area 1 Director, Rally Chair and Editor of the NNJR newsletter. On behalf of the NNJR Board and our members, I would like to express our appreciation for Peter’s contributions and hard work during his terms as RE. We wish him continued success and thank him for his friendship.

For members who I have not had the pleasure to know in our NNJR Region, let me introduce myself. I have been a Trustee on the NNJR Board for more than 15 years and I’m a 27 year member of the SCCA. I have planned all the social events for the NNJR Region and I have Co-Chaired the NorthEast Division’s Convention in Scranton, PA for the last three years. This past year I joined the SCCA Foundation as a member of the Web and Communication Committee as the Foundation launches The Legacy Project. For the past 11 years I have assisted Chris Mosley in the NEDiv Road Racing Series traveling throughout the northeast. I’m excited to carry on the RE tradition and look forward to sharing updates with you every month in my column “Crew Chief

Congratulations to SCCA-NNJR's Darrell Anthony for being the 2023 recipient the Vinny Blancuzzi Award. This award is to recognize the time and effort it takes to make the Region work above and beyond the normal effort.

Vinny joined the SCCA in October of 1991. He was a member of the Berkeley Heights Rescue Squad and was already a big fan of automobile racing. His interest in auto racing had been sparked by his father at an early age.

Darrell received the award in 2023 for his support of the Region's website, which included a complete rewrite/update of the system to bring it to 'modern standards.'

Price: $40/$30 per vehicle*

This is a 75 mile straight forward Tour Rally with easy-to-follow instructions. The event will start at Subaru World of Hackettstown and end in Long Valley, NJ. The rally is designed so that newcomers to the sport can easily complete the course with all turn instructions supported with official mileage and associated Car Zero 'Key Times'.

Participants will check-in at Subaru World of Hackettstown 10:00 and 10:45 to receive their route Instructions which will include turn-by-turn directions, before setting out in their personal vehicles to drive the route. The rally will conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m.

This is a "Tour" type rally and there are no traps or tricks - just drive, enjoy the great roads and marvelous scenery and try to arrive at each checkpoint at precisely the right time. Checkpoints will be set up along the way to monitor how well you are following the assigned average speeds. Awards will be presented to the teams who do the best job of arriving at the checkpoints at the proper times. This is a rally designed especially for people with little or no rally experience.

For those wishing to compete for SCCA National RoadRally Series points a Divisional event will be offered, for those looking to enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition the Regional event is for you.

The Richta GPS checkpoint system is free to use and will record your arrival time at each checkpoint. You'll keep this app open while you run the rally and it will use the GPS signal from your device to record your arrival time at each checkpoint. Once you pass a checkpoint, the app will automatically calculate your score for that checkpoint and announce it to you! No more waiting for the end of the rally to see how you did. You'll see your score at each checkpoint as you go along.



General Instructions and details about the Richta Smartphone App will be emailed to all registered contestants 1 week prior to the event.
