"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
We at SCCS believe that these two wonderful scriptures apply to each and every student at our school. God has a plan for every child at SCCS and we believe that all of our teachers and staff play a part in that plan. With this approach, every class, every assignment, and every activity becomes a part of a greater plan that will help each child reach their full potential in the Lord.
With this said, anything that we can do to improve our programs, curriculum, and facilities will better enable us to provide an outstanding classical Christian education that will prosper our graduate's future. Construction plans for the new campus are moving forward and events such as the Taste of Southern Pines (September 26) and the SCCS Golf Classic (October 28) are helping to raise awareness of the school in the community. We are looking forward seeing all of you at these fun events and we greatly covet your prayers for the successful start to our new campus, all while we diligently work to nurture the development of each and every child in our school. God has a plan for the school, and for each child in our school and we are all looking forward with excitement!

From the Grammar School Principal

Dear SCCS Parents,

Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Happy Fall everyone.  Fall Break is just around the corner!  My prayer is that those two weeks of family time with no school and no homework will be a time in which you allow God to restore your souls and to fill you with joy.
We have one more week to go and I know God will bless it.  We have a few amazing things happening during this last week before break.  Of course, the long awaited Taste of Southern Pines is this Tuesday.  I hope you all get the opportunity to come out to Downtown Southern Pines and enjoy food, fellowship, and good weather as well as to support SCCS.  This is one of my favorite fundraisers that we do.
Picture Day for Penn Ave is Wednesday.  Penn Ave students are not required to wear their Mandatory Uniforms, but if you are going on a field trip Wednesday, please remember to have them dress in their Mandatory Uniforms which is navy top and khaki bottoms. These students will have their pictures done before they depart on their class field trip.
Let us continually look to the blessings of God and see how our Lord will take care of us and our school.

Serving you in Christ,

Rebecca Whitecotton

From the Principal's Pen

This coming week is the last week of the first marking period. As we come to the close of my first quarter here at Sandhills Classical Christian School (SCCS) I have reflected upon the goodness of God in brining me into Christian school ministry many years ago and now here to SCCS.

I love the fact that Christian values and attitudes are taught and emphasized here at SCCS. In my years serving in education I have seen the overt effects of violence and immorality that are so common in today's public schools. I think this clearly demonstrates the need to have Christian schools like ours and is one of the reasons I have committed myself to only being a part of Christian education. The Christian ethics and morals expounded upon in your home and at the church you attend are reinforced here at SCCS. Nurturing a student with Biblical truth is an excellent way to equip him or her for maturity. The Biblical values you teach in your home and are reinforced here at SCCS enable your student to deal with a troubled world without succumbing to its troubles.

Obeying Biblical guidelines is essential when seeking the best for our SCCS students. Scriptural admonitions concerning the rearing of children in the Christian faith, such as Deuteronomy 6:5-7 and II Corinthians 6:14, are fully adhered to as we teach our students in the SCCS environment. The public schools cannot prepare a child for a fruitful, Christ-honoring life in the same fashion we can as a private Christian school. In our classrooms, our students learn the Biblical truth absolutely necessary for living a balanced Christian life. What a treasure!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to be a part of the educational of the students enrolled here at our school. I consider it a joy to reinforce the Biblical values you are training your children with in your home here at SCCS.

Help A Fellow Student On A MISSION

Chelsea Martin will be traveling to Laos with the mission group His Servants Ministries from September 28th until October 8th. The goal is to perform cataract surgeries for as many individuals as possible to restore their vision. The basic materials for a cataract surgery consist of an implant, supplies for surgery and medications that go home with the patients.  It costs $50 dollars for these basic supplies.  His Servants Ministries are giving a T-shirt with each $50 donation.  These donations are tax-deductible. Chelsea will be responsible for packing and distributing the home supplies. Anyone interested in making a donation should simply place the $50 in one of the designated small boxes placed at either Pennsylvania Avenue or St. Anthony's campus. Please make sure to include your name and address with the donation so that t-shirts may be sent to you after volunteers return from Laos. Although $50 is required for a t-shirt, any donation amounts are accepted.

Greetings from the Preschool world.

The preschool children have had a fun filled, first six weeks of school.  Fun is just what is needed for your preschooler.  Did you know that they learn best through fun, hands-on, real experiences?  The teachers are planning activities and adventures that are designed for investigation, cognitive development, and to prompt questions for discussion.  Some classes have had trips to the Pinehurst fire station, while classes at Christ Fellowship had a Fire Truck come to them.  They also were able to have the K9 Unit visit and meet the police dog.

Other classes are having fun with food.  Watching popcorn pop, carrots turn to juice, eggroll wrappers turn from soft to hard, and deshelling edamame are just a few examples of classrooms using food to expand the children's minds.
Don't forget Pictures on Monday at Christ Fellowship and Tuesday at Pinehurst.  Mr. Hamilton, our photographer is so wonderful with the children.  He is able to capture their little personalities!

This is also our last week before Fall Break.  NO SCHOOL October 2-13!

Have a great week!
