MORGANS STATESIDE ASSIGNMENT

Missionary Neil and Mandi Morgan (Uruguay) and their family will be coming stateside toward the latter part of December for their year furlough. Their plans are to travel to churches over the next year in order to help raise support. If you would like to have them at your church for a mission service, please email Neil directly at nmorgan@fwbgo.com. In advance, thank you for considering to have them with your church and for your continued financial and prayer support for missions.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Geneva Poole
Missionary Geneva Poole (Brazil) passed away on November 20, 2013, after a battle with cancer. Missionary Bobby Poole is planning to come stateside in January 2014 for a few months. He and Mrs. Geneva were set to retire December 31, 2013. There will be a Memorial Service to honor the life of Mrs. Geneva Poole on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Lebanon FWB Church in Effingham, where Mrs. Geneva was saved on Mother's Day in 1950. Having the service in March will allow Mrs. Geneva's extended family to attend as some will be recovering from surgery. The time of day and more details regarding the service will be announced in the future. Please set aside the date of the Memorial Service on your calendar. Missionary Bobby Poole plans to be with us at our SC FWB State meeting in February. He will be attending the Memorial Service for Mrs. Geneva on March 8, 2014, and then he plans to return to Brazil to teach in the Bible Seminary next year. Please continue to remember him and his family in prayer during this time.

CLOSING REMARKS - "A Day of Superlatives"
One of the meekest men in the Bible was John the Baptist. Jesus said of John that "Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist." Yet when he saw the Christ, instead of giving a speech about his own great accomplishments, he sent others to Jesus telling them, "He must increase, but I must decrease." When asked who he was, he simply said, "I am the voice of the one crying in the wilderness."  He had no desire to be seen but only to be heard so that others might know Christ.
Did you ever notice that David never describes his victory of Goliath in all of the psalms? We live in a time of superlatives - the greatest evangelist, the greatest preacher, the greatest theologian, the greatest actor, the greatest athlete.... Today, individuals desire dignity and position. Many want title, status, and to be addressed properly. Paul called himself "the least of all the apostles," "less than the least of all saints," and chief of sinners. If Christ is to be seen by others in our lives, we must rid ourselves of the superlatives, realize our unworthiness, and reach out to others humbly. Then will Christ be magnified that others might be drawn to Him.
"God created the world out of nothing, and as long as we are nothing, he can make something out of us." - Martin Luther
