Hallo! I have returned from a remarkable trip to Germany. The first stop was Creativa, a monumental consumer fair filling six expo halls: Fabrics & textiles, arts & crafts, painting & drawing, design & decoration, baking, games, and more. Doors opened at 9 AM, and by noon on opening day, aisles were jammed with thousands of shoppers. Over five days 65,000 attendees shopped 440 vendors from 17 countries. I was nearly overwhelmed by the astonishing array of mostly handmade products. How did I not buy anything? Put this Creativa consumer event on your “must visit/must shop” list, March 19-23, 2025.
At the invitation of SCHMETZ Germany, I attended h+h Cologne. My mind was blown by the depth, breadth, and quantity of vendor offerings and learning experiences. The show leans heavily on yarns, knitting, and crochet with some quilting. The SCHMETZ booth was consistently bustling with international customers. Vendor booths were huge structures. I’m still sorting through pics and will share even more than those currently on FB/SCHMETZneedles. h+h Cologne is an international tradeshow with 12,000 attendees from 78 countries visiting 300 exhibitors from 40 countries.
A couple of things that I noticed were how well-dressed attendees were at both shows. Simple t-shirt or a-line dresses were very popular, especially in colorful prints. Pops of color exploded with energy. Colors of yellow, orange, vivid green, and Barbie pink on handbags, shoes, and scarves. Wowza! I need and want to upgrade my wardrobe.
I do not speak German or any other language but found communicating fairly easy because others spoke English or through gestures and written words; questions or thoughts were conveyed to find answers. Thank you to SCHMETZ Germany for embracing and inspiring me.

Threads Podcast Featuring Rhonda Pierce | |
Threads Magazine has always been one of my favorite magazines inspiring me to create new outfits. In January, I was tickled to be a guest on Threads Magazine podcast. I haven't listened to it yet, but I know some of you have. I appreciate your kind notes saying the SCHMETZ information is useful. The conversation is about 30 minutes.

Rhonda Meets the Nicest People! |
March has been a delightful month meeting with sewing & quilting fans. First, the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA. Then presenting SCHMETZ lectures at Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Atlanta, followed by Lakeland FL. I meet the nicest creative people, like Pat, who not only helped in one of the Atlanta classes, but she's a big SCHMETZ fan with dream storage for all her needles.
