Snow weather is SEW weather. I could say the same about summertime heat waves too. When I stop to think about when I sew most, unless I have a deadline, I realize weather often dictates my sewing time. January 2024, with snow and sub-zero temperatures, was a productive sewing month for me. I made about two dozen more vintage hanky gift bags, tidied up my sewing room, and made a sherpa scarf using Cuddle scraps from Dad’s Christmas blanket.
The funny thing is that when I gave the blanket to my 92-year-old Dad during Christmas in Nebraska, he firmly said, I don’t need another quilt. I just smiled because I knew he would probably change his mind. Two days later while resting in his easy chair, Dad said, I’m going to sleep with this blanket. Hello ... major SCORE!
Dad’s blanket, along with past gifts, was lovingly created with the best of intentions. How the receiver responds, whether the gift is liked or not, is not my issue because I know my intentions were good. I learned that lesson years ago.
Wishing you a pleasant sewing month filled with chocolate!
