A Real Treasure Hunt in Tompkins County
Last week, the History Center in Tompkins County opened up their treasure hunt fundraiser, made possible by a spectacular $10,000 donation of jewels from The Jewelbox, a local jeweler in Ithaca. Nearly 1,000 people across 174 teams registered to find the treasure trove (at $100 per team), and while the grand prize was found, there are more prizes still out there around Tompkins County.

Reservoirs and Barrels in Delaware County
Delaware County Historical Association sent out a reminder about their "Archive in an Envelope" program, made possible by the Catskill Watershed Corporation because the history materials in the envelopes are about local reservoirs. Educators or the general public can reach out to DCHA for a copy. DCHA is currently borrowing an exhibit from Hartwick College (but drawn heavily from DCHA materials) about the Catskill Reservoirs and the communities displaced by their construction. DCHA has recently made facilities improvements, including a parking lot expansion, electrical work, lighting, and siding. Over in East Meredith, the Hanford Mills Museum is hosting some very exciting workshops before closing for the season: a coopering workshop and a historic cooking workshop among them!
