SCICU N eeds Your Help in Reaching Scholarship Goals By August 31
With the beginning of the Fall Semester quickly approaching, there are students at SCICU's member colleges and universities who still need financial assistance for the 2018-19 academic year.

Your contribution to SCICU's scholarships and financial assistance programs can mean the difference between students being able to continue classes, completing their degrees, or, putting it quite bluntly, dropping out of college .

Won't you help today with a donation towards scholarships and financial assistance for students at our independent colleges and universities?

August 31 is SCICU's deadline for scholarships and financial assistance programs for the 2018-19 academic year.

You can make a donation online easily at www.scicu.org/donate . If you need more information, please call Eddie Shannon, SCICU Executive Vice President, at 803-799-7122.

Many thanks in advance for your help in making independent higher education more affordable for students at SCICU's member colleges and universities!
While earning a college degree is a life-changing achievement for many students, other students miss out on graduation due to seemingly small but insurmountable financial shortfalls. These students come oh-so-close to graduation but get derailed by the compounding effects of unexpected expenses, such as a $500 car repair bill, balances due at their college, and minimal, if any, savings safety net available.

The Milliken Foundation is continuing its long-standing support of undergraduate student research at SCICU’s twenty member colleges and universities with a $5,000 donation to SCICU for the 2018-19 academic year.

The SCICU Undergraduate Student/Faculty Research Program was started in 1995 with $25,000 in seed money donated by Roger Milliken.

State budget increases for SC Tuition Grants, CHE's need-based grant programs, and PASCAL were preserved in the budget sent to Governor McMaster. SC Merit Scholarship programs were also fully funded at over $350 million for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

The SCICU Presidential Search Committee will begin its first round of candidate interviews on August 8, 2018.

The application period closed on June 1, and Coleman Lew + Associates, SCICU’s executive search partner, has vetted candidates.

The SCICU Board of Trustees will hold its Fall 2018 meeting at Presbyterian College on September 26. At this event, the Board will announce and celebrate the selection of the SCICU McLean-Smith Student of the Year. More info will be emailed to trustees in early August
