NAICU Capitol Hill Advocacy Day and Annual Conference

SCICU federal legislative update from President and CEO Jeff Perez
Spartanburg Methodist College President Scott Cochran and I joined leaders from other independent colleges and universities Feb. 3-6 for the NAICU Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the briefings and meetings in D.C., Scott and I heard that independent colleges and universities, along with the rest of higher education, face a volatile legislative and regulatory environment.

SCICU trustees, presidents, and business leaders gather for receptions throughout South Carolina
SCICU President and CEO Jeff Perez hosted receptions throughout SC in January and February that gave trustees, college/university presidents, and business leaders the chance to meet in a more informal setting.

Following the findings from strategic planning studies that indicated trustees wanted more time to build and deepen relationships outside formal board meetings, SCICU held receptions in Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, and Charleston.
