Claflin and Voorhees receive unprecedented awards from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott
Claflin University, Voorhees College, and over 30 other colleges, universities, and higher education foundations received historic, unprecedented gifts from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott on December 15. Claflin’s $20 million gift and Voorhees’ $4 million award were part of Scott’s $4.2 billion total distributed to 384 organizations.

Voorhees College has named Dr. Ronnie Hopkins, the college’s provost and vice president for academic affairs, as its interim president following the departure of Dr. W. Franklin Evans, who served as the college’s ninth president. Evans became the first Black president of West Liberty State University (West Liberty, W. Va.) on January 1.

SCICU is a member of the Coalition for College Cost Savings (CCCS). This organization, comprised of 33 member organizations in 32 states, serves close to 900 higher education institutions and 3 million students across the United States. The organization and staff are dedicated to helping private higher education institutions improve processes and reduce costs through collaboration.
All SCICU member colleges and universities have access to CCCS's national contracts and services. More information on this important benefit may be found here.
