Many of you know I hail from New York, where the state motto is “Excelsior,” and translates from Latin to “Ever Upward.” Here, in my adopted state of South Carolina, the state motto is “Dum Spiro Spero,” or “While I Breathe I Hope.”

Together, I think these mottos capture the spirit of the 21 SCICU member colleges and universities.

Duke Energy Foundation awards scholarships to SCICU minority engineering majors

SCICU is pleased to announce that the Duke Energy Foundation is funding $30,000 in scholarships for minority engineering students attending SCICU member colleges and universities. Twelve minority engineering students at SCICU institutions located in the Duke Energy service area will each receive $2,500 scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year.
SCICU colleges & universities breaking national records in fall sports

It’s already a record-breaking fall sports season at SCICU colleges and universities! Did you know that a SCICU college set a Division I football record this September? That’s right – With 10 passing touchdowns totaling 538 yards, Presbyterian College’s quarterback set a DI record for the most individual TDs in one game during the Blue Hose 84-43 season-opening win against the St. Andrews Knights.

But that’s hardly scratching the surface of fall sports at SCICU’s 21 member colleges and universities. Click on the names of your favorite colleges and universities to learn more about their fall sports programs:

SCICU exceeds fundraising goals for FY 2020-2021

Despite the continued economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, SCICU once again exceeded its annual fundraising goals. For FY 2020-21, SCICU raised over $538,000, exceeding its overall goal of $524,000. With supplemental funds coming from the SCICU endowment, almost $697,000 was distributed to SCICU member colleges and universities.
