Principal's Message
SCIS Parents,

We have had a wonderful first semester in 5th and 6th grade. I am grateful for all the volunteers that have helped our kids take tests, helped us organize events, volunteered to be mentors, served as chaperones at 5th grade camp.  This time of year I am so grateful for our amazing community of parents who give generously of their time to help make Sloan Creek an experience that is second to none for each child.

I hope you will watch the video above regarding the following details:

1. Replenishing your child's supplies:
Now is a great time to give your child the gifts of school supplies. We are seeing lots of kids without some of the basics.  Please take a moment to check your child's backpack for pencils, pens, markers, and a planner.  We have extra planners for sale at school for $10.00

2. PTA sponsored -Numana Service Learning tomorrow:

3.Lost and Found:
All lost and found coats will be donated to area shelters on Wednesday, December 19th at noon.

4. 11:45 am early release and school social: 12.19.18
The cafeteria is closed this day. Please send your child a lunch if you did not already purchase Chick-Fil-A for your child.

With an Attitude of Gratitude,

Ray Winkler

LHS Half Days and Checking Out Early:
Just a reminder that we will have full instructional days each day until December 19th. Due to exams the high school has half days on December 14th-19th. However, our only half day is December 19th,  when we will have our student social.  At the intermediate level we do not have class parties or  "free days" before break.  I know most students will have a major Q2 test grade in the final week of school, so please refrain from starting the break early. Checking your child out of school early makes it difficult for them to make up this learning after a two week break when we return January 7th.

School Starts January 7th:
Please note all schools other than the high school will return Monday,  January 7th, 2019

Volunteers Needed

Winter Break is almost here!  SCIS will celebrate with our Holiday Social Lunch on Wednesday, December 19 from 10 AM -12 PM.  Parents will have the opportunity in advance to purchase Chick Fil A for their students.  We also need donations for additional food items and volunteers.
Please follow the links below if you can help:

Adopt a Lovejoy Family
We are so thankful to have such wonderful families here in Lovejoy ISD.  Anytime we ask for help you deliver.  We are looking for current Lovejoy Families who would like to extend a warm welcome to families new to Lovejoy.
As you all know, moving to a new place whether it be a new school, district, or state can be a daunting task.  There are many new things to navigate.  We are looking for families who would be willing to serve as a resource for new families by "adopting" a new family and helping them find their way in the community.  This could be by helping steer them in the right direction and through any unfamiliar territory, or by just helping them broaden their contacts. Since you have been in the community and your children have been in Lovejoy ISD, we are considering that you are the experts that just might be able to help with the transition for our new families.  If you are interested please click the link below.

LHS Senior James Rainey is asking for your help with his Senior Project.

"Hi, this is James Rainey I'm a senior at Lovejoy. I am currently working on my senior project, which is a gift card drive for the Samaritan Inn. The Samaritan Inn is a housing center for homeless families that are trying to get on their feet and for parents that are trying to provide for a better future for their children. I've talked to the directors and they've told me that this would be a big help for them and would allow for parents to purchase gifts for their children during this Christmas time. A collection box will be located at each school through December 19. A drawing will be held for those who make a donation. The winner of the drawing will receive an autographed football from Cowboys starting safety, Kavon Frazier
