working hard to finish the year strong in 5 short weeks.
I hope you will watch the video above regarding:
- Thank you for a great lighthouse graduation/showcase last night! (see Video)
- 5th Grade - growth and development video tomorrow (See Video)
- Week 6 Q4 Progress reports (stored grades) are used for Q4 honor roll. (Please See Video)
- SCIS/WSMS Orchestra Concert on Monday @ LHS.
- May 3rd Parent Coffee is for 4th grade parents.

5th Grade - Growth and Development Video (See Video Above)
Action Item for 5th grade Parents:
As part of the health curriculum, the Always Changing video on Human Growth and Development will be shown to the
5th grade on April 26, 2019 at 2:00p.m. during 9th period.
- Boys and girls will be separated for the Growth and Development class.
- Mr. Smith, Puster Elementary counselor, will talk with the boys.
- Tamara Pierce, the nurse at Sloan Creek, will assist with the girls.
- They will be available to answer questions and concerns from the students after the presentation of the video.
- We will only answer questions that have to do with the information from the video.
- As the parent/guardian, you have the most important role in teaching your child about their growth and development.
- We encourage you to preview the videos that will be shown and learn more about how to talk to your child.
Please watch this video with your child before April 26th.
Sitting and watching together, then answering what questions they have is a wonderful way to allow your child to learn this information in the safety of your home and within the context of your family beliefs. It would be our goal that when we show the video on April 26th and lead this learning that your child has already seen it with you and you are able to answer their questions.

***If we do not receive a form from you by April 17, 2019, your child will NOT be allowed to participate in the class.

ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS:
There are two vaccinations required by the State of Texas for 7th grade: Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and the meningococcal vaccine. Typically students will receive these vaccines at their 11 or 12 year old check up. If your student receives this vaccine, please email or fax a copy of their vaccination record to me. Please don't wait until the week before school starts to get these vaccines. Typically there will be a shortage of the vaccines, before school starts, because it is required of all 7th grade students in Texas.

Lovejoy Summer Musical Theatre Camps July 9-20
We are excited to announce our 2019 musical: Seussical KIDS!
Acting, choreography, lighting, costuming, set building, and painting are just some of the fun activities taking place in Lovejoy's Summer Musical Theatre Camps: Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, and Intern Camp.
Students will work together to produce and perform Seussical KIDS. Students who attend will develop confidence, sharpen their musical and theatrical skills, and create wonderful memories along the way. Directed by Jessica Brewster, LHS Head Theatre Director, and musically directed by Anne Tracy, LHS Puster Elementary Music Specialist, this show is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Lovejoy High School Recycling Event May 11
Lovejoy High School, in partnership with Renewed Solutions, invites you to clean out your closets and file cabinets to participate in an electronics recycling and paper shredding event on Saturday, May 11 from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM in the front parking lot of the high school. Click

School Report Cards from 2017-18
I wanted to make you aware that the 2017-18 School Report Card (SRC) from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is available on the district website under "Quick Links" and then under "Required Postings" or directly at:
The same reports can be accessed on our campus website under the "About" tab and then selecting TEA School Campus Report Cards.
The SRC provides information on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
As you may recall, districts do not receive a SRC but the STAAR performance at each campus contributed to Lovejoy ISD being one of only four districts of the 1227 districts and charter schools in Texas to receive the highest rating on the state accountability system with an overall grade of "A" with a scale score of 97 out of 100 possible points.
