SCIS Parents,
I hope you are all looking forward to a great four day break coming up. Mary and I are taking our 3 kids tent camping at Robbers Cave State Park up in Oklahoma over the four day break, so say a prayer that we all survive the tent set up and tear down process. Each time we set up those tents, we want to buy an RV more and more each time. :-)
We have had a great short week of learning. I hope you will take a peek at some of the details below:
WHY ATTENDANCE MATTERS:
- How important is it for kids to be in school?
- School attendance is a baseline factor in determining school success.
- A missed school day is a missed opportunity for students to learn.
- Regular attendance fosters a classroom connection between teachers and students.
- Attending school also provides time for social interactions with peers.
Did you know that?
- Attendance is the most significant driver in the funding Lovejoy ISD receives from the state each year?
- A 3% reduction in the yearly average daily attendance (ADA) can cause the district to lose $800,000 in funding.
- An increase of 1% in the yearly ADA can fund 3 teachers’ salaries.
- Although it may seem insignificant that the district loses $50 a day when a student is absent, consider the impact when 250 students are absent across the district and the district loses $12,500. Multiply that by 15 days and it is a loss of $187,500. The impact is significant.
- Attendance taken at 10 AM determines the ADA funding that Lovejoy ISD receives for that date. If the student is on campus at that time, LISD receives approximately $50.00 per student. If a student is absent, ADA is lost.

Above and Beyond Awards:
I want to nominate Mrs. Nash:
I just want to point out what wonderful methods Mrs. Nash is using to teach her students! They will never forget these important history lessons because of her creative teaching style. Our daughter, is thoroughly enjoying Social Studies this year and we are so thankful for Mrs. Nash!
My daughter and her friend made a pancake and bacon dinner tonight inspired by the tyrant "King George". They gave me their permission to share this creation with you:

Would you like to give a SCIS staff member who went "Above and Beyond" for you or your child?
With Gratitude,
Mr. Winkler:

Dear Lovejoy ISD Families,
This year, all Lovejoy ISD parents are asked to complete the LISD Socioeconomic Information Form, regardless of socioeconomic need. State and federal funds are allocated to school districts based on this information.
If you have already completed this form for 2021-2022 you do not need to complete another form. However, if you have not completed this form for the 2021-2022 school year, please click Socioeconomic Information Form to download the form, complete one form per student and return it either to the campus PEIMS personnel or to PEIMS Coordinator, 259 Country Club Rd, Allen, TX 75002 by October 8, 2021.
Please note that this form is not sent to the Texas Education Agency and that the income levels indicated for your family are not reported to the Texas Education Agency. Only the Economic Disadvantaged status of each student as determined by the information provided is reported to the Texas Education Agency.
Respectfully,

Lovejoy ISD Football Events Update
Lovejoy ISD is extremely fortunate to have strong family and community involvement.
We value the partnerships that we share among our students, families and community members.
The District is thrilled this year to have had an unusually high turnout at the last two home varsity football games. The attendance has been a great show of support for our students, particularly following the 20-21 school year.
With the increase of attendance, our administration team has spent time reviewing the organization and safety of the varsity football games. We have determined areas that require attention to provide our patrons a positive experience at these events. The following adjustments have been made and will go into effect for the upcoming game this Thursday, October 7th.
- Additional ushers will be in place to assist with seating and monitoring.
- Season ticket holders will be required to secure a wrist band for reserved seating.
- (Tables will be set up inside the gates to distribute the wrist bands.)
- Students will be expected to remain seated in the stands during the game.
- K-6 students should sit with parents. LJHS and WSMS students can sit in their respective student sections. Students will not be allowed to congregate below and around the stadium stands.
- We request any type of ball, frisbee, etc, be left at home and not brought inside the gates.
- Additional Lovejoy ISD district and campus administrators will be on-site to provide assistance and monitor designated areas.
- Gridiron Club has been relocated to a centralized location outside of the stadium.
- Additional signage will be posted in the parking areas and stadium.
Don’t forget we offer parking shuttles from Hart Elementary, Willow Springs Middle School and Grace Church. Staff will be on-site to assist.
Again, we believe these changes will provide for a safe and positive experience for everyone. We thank our school community for supporting our student events throughout the year.
We look forward to seeing you Thursday evening at Leopard Stadium!
