The information below is a repost from our email last Thursday:

  • The bell to start the day rings at 7:35 each morning. We ask that all students dropped off prior to 7:35.
  • For the 2018-2019 school year, our official hours will be 7:45 a.m.-2:55 p.m.
  • On Monday, August 20th, students will go directly to his/her classroom.
  • On a typical day, upon arrival, students will report to one of the cafeteria.
  • Students will be considered tardy after the 7:45 bell sounds.
  • If a student arrives after 7:45, we request that the student report to the front desk to receive a tardy slip to be presented to their teachers.
Walk The Creek
Walk the Creek is the intermediate version of meet the teacher.  It provides students and parents an opportunity to find out the location of their classes and meet each of their teachers.  There will also be an opportunity to put money in your child's lunch account. Since our parking is limited, there will be a shuttle bus that runs between SCIS and Creekwood UMC.

5th Grade: Thursday, August 16th 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm (details next week)
6th Grade: Monday, August 13th 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm (come and go event)

Lunch Visitors
Those wanting to join their child/children for lunch are welcome but we are respectfully requesting that lunch guests allow us this first week to review expectations and procedures.  Thanks in advance!

We will have additional intervention support for our students provided throughout the school day.  Allyson Price, is an intervention specialist. She will be working with small groups throughout the day either in the child's classroom or in her classroom.  She will be providing targeted instruction to help fill in any missing gaps.

We will have all students report directly to their first period class upon arrival the first day of school.  Teachers will be in their classrooms to greet their students. Beginning the second day, students report to the cafeteria. At 7:35, the bell will ring and release students to their first period class.

The safety of our students is very important and has been taken into consideration. Please note the following:
  • Buses will continue to enter and exit to the south of the school.
  • Carpool traffic will enter through the south entrance only. Carpool traffic will exit at north of the school only.
  • For morning drop-off, you'll be directed to drop off your student at doors 10 & 11 or at Courtyard.
  • For afternoon pick-up, students will only exit on the north end of the school to enter your car.
  • Remember:  The use of cell phones is prohibited in a school zone.
SCIS Pick Up and Drop Off
Click Above for SCIS Pick Up and Drop Off Video

Students may only exit the front of the building if they are a bus rider. Parents may not drop off or pick up students in the front of the school during carpool times.
During carpool times, please do not wait in the front parking lot, bus lanes, fire lanes, or double- park behind other vehicles.  For their safety, do not have your student exit the front of the building and walk to your car.

  • You must have your driver's license to check into the building, or check out your student.
  • So students will have time to adjust to our lunchroom procedures, we ask that guests join us for dining beginning the second week of school.
  • Sign up for the Principal Message on the Lovejoy ISD homepage.
  • Lockers will be assigned on the first week of school.  Students will have opportunities to practice opening their locker throughout the week.
  • Please remember that we have limited parking.  Therefore, we would appreciate if your family brought one car to our events.

2018-2019 Bus Transportation
Welcome to the 2018-2019 Bus Transportation Year!  During the Summer, Transportation staff worked many hours on improving and modifying bus routes to better serve our riders and parents.  Once route modifications are complete,  and bus stop times/locations are ready to view, parents will be notified through School Messenger and Email Express.  On August 13th, PowerSchool will be open to parents and we ask that parents review the bus transportation section to verify their 2018-19 school bus choice is accurate. Instructions on how to access the PowerSchool transportation section is attached so parents can review and/or modify bus transportation needs.
We are excited about the new year and look forward to serving you.
