The health and safety of our members, attendees, exhibitors, hotel staff, and the people of Denver are our primary concerns. Our goal is to hold a safe event, recognizing it is not possible to remove all risks, in particular concerning COVID-19.

  • We expect that all attendees will have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 and Influenza at the time of the meeting.
  • We encourage the use of masks when participating in indoor activities. Additional masks will be available at the registration desk.
  • We recommend you take a COVID-19 test before leaving home. If applicable, order your free at-home tests. You can also find tests as well as other supplies and toiletries at Target, 1600 California Street (about a 6-min walk from the hotel).
  • It is recommended that each SCMS attendee bring 1-2 home (self) COVID testing kits. This will allow you to test in the privacy of your hotel room should you start to develop possible COVID symptoms.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are available throughout the hotel and at conference registration. Wash hands regularly.
  • Eat, drink, and socialize outdoors or in larger indoor spaces whenever possible (dependent on weather conditions, of course).
  • We recommend that all attendees conduct regular symptom checks. If you experience symptoms of COVID-19 or Influenza (i.e., fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, fatigue, headache, congestion, or loss of taste/smell), please stay in your room or seek care if you feel sick or have symptoms.

The meeting hotel assures us that its air filtration and air mass refresh levels are at the highest quality, consistent with Marriott International best practices. The hotel also has enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols in place.

Neither the Sheraton nor the city of Denver has a mask mandate, so other hotel guests may not be wearing masks. SCMS’ ethic is one of collective care and mutual aid. We are counting on each other to keep us safe.

PLEASE DO NOT attend the conference if:

  • You are experiencing symptoms of the flu, RSV, or COVID-19 (e.g., a fever of 100.4F or higher, cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, extreme fatigue, or other symptoms associated with COVID-19 as identified by the CDC);
  • You test positive for COVID-19 or Influenza.

SCMS will follow CDC public health recommendations, and federal, state, and local regulations applicable at the time of the SCMS Annual Conference. SCMS may change, update, or add to these requirements at any time as it deems prudent to best protect the health and safety of attendees and others.
