The County of Summit ADM Board partnered with Sober Seventeenth, Inc., an established non-profit in Avon Lake, to host an Akron event.
Sober Seventeenth's goal is to reclaim the true spirit of St. Patrick by providing a family friendly, alcohol-free celebration featuring the best of Irish music, dance and heritage for the Irish American and entire community. These events are for families who wish to honor St. Patrick’s Day without exposing their children to binge drinking; people in recovery who benefit by a sober environment for their celebration; and people of all nationalities who want to take a day to appreciate Irish culture without the turmoil that is prevalent in so many commercial St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
