*Just a reminder – groundbreaking for the Columbia Intermediate addition will take place in late January. Stay tuned for more information. The High School groundbreaking is still on schedule for June 1.

MENTAL WELLNESS UPDATE

KJH Sources of Strength Peer Leaders Present to KJH Staff

On Thursday, November 21, KJH Sources of Strength Peer Leaders Lucy Stovall, Lindsay Rubel, Jasmina Ulmasova, and Zoey Zavodsky attended a KJH staff meeting to share more about the Sources of Strength program.

They began by taking the staff through an activity they could use with their team. They shared the Sources of Strength wheel which highlights strengths that everyone has – positive friends, mentors, mental health, physical health, family support, healthy activities, spirituality, and generosity.

The Sources of Strength student leaders are planning a “Trusted Adult” campaign for December/January. KJH students will be invited to write the name of their Trusted Adult on a snowflake and the snowflakes will be displayed around the building creating a Winter Wonderland.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

Over the past couple of years, we have worked hard to implement cost efficiencies that don’t impact the overall student educational experience.

We have totaled over $7million dollars of efficiencies and have captured those on the Fiscal Responsibility tab on the Treasurer’s page. Kings has also been diligent in local and federal grants to offset district expenses.

If you want to dive deeper, please visit the Fiscal Responsibility Page on the Kings website.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Over the past month, we have had many celebrations and great experiences.

Thanks to Kings High School Junior Bri Ries for her internship experience, which helped create the Mason/Deerfield Rotary Mural on the side of the Subway in downtown Mason. Kings Art Teacher, Jenna Hudson designed the mural. It was fun to be in attendance as it was dedicated on December 4! Great job, Bri (and Jenna)!

I have also had the opportunity to see many fabulous performances of our students over the past couple of weeks.

  • KHS students performed “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and they did an outstanding job.

  • Basketball season has kicked off and our men’s and women’s teams are off to a good start. Special shout out to the world-renowned Kings Pep Band for attending both team's games last week, as well as the award-winning Kings Cheerleaders. Thanks for creating such a great atmosphere at the Castle!

  • I was able to attend the Sneak Peek of the 2024-2025 season routine of the Kings Firecrackers last Friday night. What a tremendous group of athletes! I can’t wait to watch them perform this season!
