CREATING A SEAMLESS SYSTEM OF CARE

Our district partners with Mindpeace and Beech Acres to provide a seamless system of mental health support for our students.

Six years ago, we worked with Mindpeace to identify the unique mental health needs of our students to select a community partner to provide quality, affordable, accessible, integrated, and aligned school-based therapy services for our students in need.

Mindpeace holds monthly meetings to bring our building teams together to create shared visions of how to best meet the mental health needs of children and young adults in our community.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT DATE

On Tuesday, October 15, the Kings Board of Education approved the changing of the kindergarten entrance date from September 30 to August 1, effective at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year.

This date change will also affect our students entering preschool at the Kings Early Childhood Center. Aligning with the District’s kindergarten entrance date, preschool children must be 3 by August 1 to enroll.

Moving the entrance date to August 1 will allow some children an extra year to grow, helping them develop critical cognitive, social, and emotional skills. This additional time can lead to improved academic performance and long-term success.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

One of my favorite things is to engage with our students and staff during the day.  Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to reward students at JFB with extra recess, be a Mystery Reader at SLE,  watch our students perform artistically and athletically, pass out Halloween candy with our Central Office Staff to our preschoolers, and participate in the KHS Engineering students' Pirate Ship Haunted House.

We are fortunate to have some amazingly talented students.

KINGS FLAGS

Routinely, I will present staff members with a Kings Knights Flag. These flags are given to staff members who go above and beyond for our students.

Recently, I awarded Lisa King, KHS Government teacher, for all of her extraordinary work leading up to homecoming, including walking in the homecoming parade. We appreciate everything “Mama King” does for our students in our district. Stay tuned for future flag presentations!
