“Capturing Memorable Moments. Creating Treasured Keepsakes!”
I Pictured This LLC is the brainchild of Laura Perrotta, whose photographic journey began way back when her tiny hands wielded the mighty Instamatic at family gatherings. Apparently, even then, she had a knack for capturing those "perfectly imperfect" moments. This early obsession only intensified when her dad gifted her a "grown-up" 35mm camera at 16. In the pre-YouTube era, Laura was a self-taught shutterbug, learning through the ancient arts of reading and good old-fashioned trial and (undoubtedly) lots of error. Her formative years included navigating the wild world of camera retail and the rapid-fire development demands of a one-hour photo lab – experiences that likely taught her patience, speed, and the vital skill of not spilling coffee on precious prints.
Laura's progression into professional photography was a gradual development from her lifelong interest. During her children’s early years, she pursued several opportunities to work for other photography studios. This experience provided her with valuable insights into the business aspects of photography.
In 2008, the story of Laura's photographic journey took a new chapter with the official launch of her business. Operating from her studio, Portrait Arts Photography, situated at 222 Central Street, became a familiar name and a trusted place for capturing life's precious moments. Year after year, she built not just a business, but a network of clients who valued her artistry. The year 2020, however, brought an unexpected plot twist – the global pandemic. The once-vibrant studio on Central Street had to close its doors. But Laura's narrative was far from over. Showing true entrepreneurial spirit, she adapted, transforming her home into her new operational center. The camera, her constant companion, now traveled with her, as she continued to weave her magic in the homes and chosen locations of her clients.
August 2024 saw Laura's entrepreneurial spirit find a new stage as she and her partner opened a shared space, a creative hub where the artistry of I Pictured This now resides alongside the allure of his antique collection. This blend of capturing moments and cherishing history creates an interesting synergy. From this new base, Laura continues to expand the visual narratives of her clients through a comprehensive suite of photography services. Whether it's preserving the romance of Weddings, the connection of Family Portraits, or the achievement of high school Senior Portraits – I Pictured This offers a broad palette of expertise. Adding a sprinkle of magic to her repertoire, Laura has cultivated a distinctive offering in her Fairytale Portrait Sessions, where children are invited to become the stars of their own fantastical stories, brought to life through costumes and imaginative scenes.
Testament to her exceptional service and client satisfaction, Laura's photography business enjoys a solid base of repeat customers and strong word-of-mouth referrals. Her active engagement on Facebook serves as a powerful marketing and communication tool. Beyond her business success, Laura is deeply committed to giving back to her local community. As a board member of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, she plays a key role in fostering collaboration among local businesses and supporting community initiatives. Additionally, her involvement with the Better Business Bureau reflects her dedication to promoting ethical business practices and strengthening trust within the community. Her active participation in both organizations has also been pivotal in building valuable connections and expanding her network. As a preferred vendor at numerous local venues, she not only secures wedding photography opportunities but also contributes to the success of local events and businesses. Recognizing the importance of continuous growth and adaptation, Laura has been strategically collaborating with Terry Zysk, her SCORE mentor, focusing specifically on developing effective marketing strategies and optimizing her online presence through her website.
Laura's entrepreneurial journey continues to evolve with the recent integration of sublimation into her offerings. This exciting new avenue allows her striking photographs to take on new forms, adorning a range of appealing items such as t-shirts, mugs, magnets, and keychains. Beyond showcasing her existing work, she's also empowering clients to personalize these items with their own cherished images. Recognizing the need to amplify this expansion, Laura is strategically enhancing her marketing efforts. A key focus lies in the improvement of her website and a more vibrant engagement across social media channels, particularly Facebook and Instagram, as she seeks to connect with a wider audience and drive further business growth.
Laura's vision for the future is one of sustained excellence and strategic growth. Building on a foundation of quality service and customer loyalty, she aims to thoughtfully expand I Pictured This from its current location, continuing to capture life's precious moments for her community.
