THE ROYALE HAPPENINGS
We have platforms! Thanks to all of you who came out this past weekend and experienced the new seating configuration. We are still putting the finishing touches on our riser, but are thrilled to provide you, our patrons with a more comfortable seating experience!
In order to serve you better we will be taking a day of rest and closing on Mondays from September 12 onwards. The Royale crew will recharge on Mondays and be ready to provide you with all the fun events and programming that you love, Tuesday through Sunday. For Members Only details please see below.
Tonight, a special screening for Horror Film lovers! At the Harkins Scottsdale 101 we are co-presenting the Short Horror Films from the Viscera Film Festival. Short Horror Films by Women Filmmakers, it's a One Night Only Special Engagement!

SHORT HORROR FILMS VISCERA FILM FEST. August 30
The International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival and Midnite Movie Mamacita present a collection of short horror films from Viscera Film Festival.
This collection of 14 films is a special showcase featuring films from the archives of the Viscera Film Festival. The festival focuses on films from female filmmakers. This one night event is a glimpse into films from this unique festival.
Viscera is a non profit organization committed to expanding opportunities for contemporary female horror filmmakers and educating the public by raising awareness of the changing roles for women in the film industry.

LOVE EXPOSURE August 26 - September 1
This bombastic feature film (clocking at a gargantuan 237 minutes) from director Sion Sono (SUICIDE CLUB) ambitiously tackles life's biggest themes: love, death, sex, revenge, religion and up-skirt panty photography. Winner of dozens of international awards (including the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival), Love Exposure tells the story of Yu (Takahiro Nishijima), a teenager driven to a life of sin, romantic extremes and sexual perversions by his father's desperate conversion into extreme Catholicism.

GRAVE ENCOUNTERS September 2 - 8
Lance Preston and the crew of "Grave Encounters", a ghost-hunting reality television show, are shooting an episode inside the abandoned Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital, where unexplained phenomena has been reported for years. On the quest to expose the truth, and scare their viewers, the "Grave Encounters" crew conduct background interviews with current psychologists, as well as provide disturbing archival footage of patients in the earlier half of the century. All in the name of good television, they voluntarily lock themselves inside the building for the night and begin a paranormal investigation, capturing everything on camera. They quickly realize that the building is more than just haunted - it is alive - and it has no intention of ever letting them leave. They find themselves lost in a labyrinth maze of endless hallways and corridors, terrorized by the ghosts of the former patients. They soon begin to question their own sanity, slipping deeper and deeper into the depths of madness, ultimately discovering the truth behind the hospital's dark past...and taping what turns out to be their final episode.

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD September 2
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is an unemployed 23-year-old bass guitarist in an up-and-coming garage rock band who is dating a cute 17-year-old high school girl, Knives Chau (Ellen Wong). He is having fun in life and rolling along at a nice even tempo until one day Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) roller-blades into his life. Ramona moved to Toronto from New York City to find peace and quiet and leave her past behind. No one knows what her past is, but Scott will find out very soon as he tries to make Ramona his new girlfriend. Before Scott can begin dating Ramona, he must prove himself by defeating the league of her seven exes who controls her love life. They will do anything to get rid of and destroy any new boyfriend Ramona may consider. If Scott wants to find true love with Ramona, he must defeat all seven, before the game is over.

DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK September 2
Set in beautiful Vancouver, four friends set out on an everyday errand and end up in a fight for their lives when they discover the body of a dead hooker left in their trunk. Lead by a sexy, impulsive Badass, her distant Geek twin sister, their bible thumping, Jesus loving Goody Two Shoes friend, and a chaotic, rock star Junkie pal, the group has to put aside their differences to dispose of the body before they're next. Thrown into their own personal purgatory, they face off against persistent police, a sleazy motel manager, chainsaw wielding triads, and a brutal serial killer. All the while they are followed by a mysterious Cowboy Pimp who wants to claim the corpse for his own. Will they uncover the truth behind the body and be able to stand up to their demons? Buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life filled with gun fights, extreme violence, blood, guts, gore, and goats. Dead Hooker In A Trunk is the unexpected first feature film written, directed, and produced by identical twin sisters, Jen and Sylvia Soska. MEMBERS ONLY September 5
Members Only Screenings are one of the prime perks of becoming a member of The Royale. Programmed by the Valley's own Midnite Movie Mamacita, Andrea Beesley-Brown, Members Only began at Chandler Cinemas, showcasing cult gems like Roger Corman's Galaxy of Terror, Battlefield Baseball from Japan with Versus' Tak Sakaguchi, as well as upcoming sneak previews. The fun thing being all the titles are kept secret until the movie begins. A real treat for someone seeking out new films and camaraderie, as well as the best of world and indie genre cinema!
Members Only will take place Monday September 5 as scheduled and then moves to every other Tuesday, beginning with a screening on Tuesday September 13. Thank you members for your understanding!
