Church Office Closure
Please note that the Church Office will be closed TOMORROW, August 28, due to staff vacations.

Young at Heart - Tomorrow Night
The Young at Heart program is a monthly gathering on the fourth Friday evening of each month for those who are 55 and older. At 5:30 p.m., a potluck dinner is shared, followed by presentations on various topics of interest to the group.
Young at Heart will meet tomorrow at 5:30 pm in the Social Hall. Join us for a potluck dinner and fellowship! Please bring your favorite dish to share.

SCPC is often called on to help people in our community who are experiencing a crisis. When mission partner caseworkers reach out to us, the Compassion Fund is what we draw from to help meet these emergent needs.
This collection is separate from our regular Sunday collections. There will be baskets at the front of the church, on the back tables, and on the balcony tables. You will be invited to rise to make a donation in those baskets during the second hymn, right after the sermon. Pastor Scott will remind us! You can give online too!

Let’s Celebrate Deannine!
Please join us this Sunday as we celebrate Deannine Shipman’s retirement after more than 28 years of dedicated service to the children and families of SCPC. We will honor Deannine during worship and at Coffee Hour.
In lieu of gifts, Deannine has requested donations to The Trevor Project. Donations can be made through SCPC’s online giving by selecting “Retirement Tribute Fund” or by check or cash, noting Deannine’s Retirement Tribute Fund. Men's Fellowship Group - August 31
The Men’s Covenant Group and Men’s Bible Study Group have joined together to launch the 5th
Monday Men’s Fellowship Group—offering a third fellowship opportunity for men. This is
nondenominational and open to all seeking a new way to interact and grow in our faith. We will
meet again on August 31 at 6:00 pm in the Social Hall, and Pastor Scott will join us for pizza

Over the past two weeks, the Building and Property Committee has had a company working in the sanctuary to clean and treat the beams high above. It was quite a challenging project, and they did a great job! | | | | |
Game Day Parking Fundraiser
On PSU home football Saturdays, full-day parking will be offered in the church parking lot on a first-come, first-served basis for $40. Proceeds will benefit Stay and Play Preschool and the Hekima Place Service Trip. Enjoy convenient parking for the games while supporting a meaningful cause!
The parking lot will open at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 5, for the first Penn State Home Game of the Season!

Join us in Celebrating our Fantastic Staff!
The week of September 7 kicks off our annual Staff Celebration Week. We will be honoring their service to our church community on Sunday, September 13th, during the congregational potluck. In the meantime, the Personnel Committee is inviting everyone to show their support and gratitude all this week. This could be an email, a card, special treats, or flowers cut from your garden and dropped off at the office. Don’t hesitate to just stop by and say how much you appreciate the wonderful people who give so much to our church and the community.

Handbell Choir
Handbell Choir kicks off September 8 with a Pie & Polishing Party at 7:30 pm in the Choir Room and Social Hall.
Regular Tuesday rehearsals resume on September 15 at 7:30 pm. Please contact Heike if you have interest in participating. We always need subs and may have a need for a new regular ringer.
Prior ringing experience is not required, but it is helpful if you have some experience with reading music.

Krislund Camp Golf Tournament Field Filling Fast
The Chip In For Krislund Golf Tournament field is almost full with 52 golfers registered to play and only eight spots remaining in the 60-player field. Net proceeds from the Tournament, scheduled for September 11th at Nittany Country Club in Mingoville, PA, benefit Krislund programs that encourage youth to attend the Presbyterian church camp.
Golfers of all skill levels and handicaps are welcome. A continental breakfast and post-round luncheon
are provided along with a variety of on-course skill contests such as longest drive, closest to the pin, and more. Blaise Alexander Hyundai is once again sponsoring a Hole-In-One contest with a prize of a new Hyundai going to the first golfer who scores a “one” on the designated hole. Individual golfers will be paired with others, and foursome or twosome registrations are welcome. Online registration is now open at https://birdease.com/krislundgolf.
Local companies are also supporting the event with financial and in-kind sponsorships. Twenty-one

This excellent organization builds beds and donates them (with mattresses and bedding) through on-the-ground organizations that serve kids and households in need in the broad area where they are built. Ken Manno, Jerry Sawyer, and Scott Sesler have all participated independently at the usual Central PA build site (the Piper factory in Lock Haven). This build is IN STATE COLLEGE at Lowe’s, making it especially easy for us to participate — and making it harder for Lock Haven folks, so please do invite friends, neighbors, or colleagues.

Sunday Potluck Celebration – September 13
The Congregational Fellowship Committee (CFC) is excited to continue our Sunday Potluck Celebrations throughout the year! Our first potluck on July 5 was a tremendous success, and we're looking forward to gathering around the table again.
Join us on Sunday, September 13 for our next potluck, featuring a Back-to-School theme. The potluck will take place immediately following worship in place of the Exploration House. Regular educational programming will begin the following week.
Everyone is welcome! Bring a favorite dish to share, or simply come and enjoy good food and fellowship with your church family.

This year, the social event will benefit Krislund Camp and celebrate and honor the core group of SCPC volunteers who worked tirelessly in the early 2000s and beyond to save and improve our beloved camp. There is no charge to attend the event, but we do invite you to donate to support the great work at Krislund. Donations can be made online at the SCPC website, using the “Krislund” category; by check anytime to SCPC with “Krislund” in the memo field; or by cash or check at the event. Suggested donation is $50 per person, but please only give as you are able - all are welcome! If you have any photos of yourself, friends, or family members volunteering at the camp, please pass them along for the running slideshow!

Jackie Struble passed away on August 24. There will be no services at this time. At a future date, at the convenience of the family, there will be a joint graveside service for both Jackie and Bob.
In this week in which schools and classes begin, and our region feels busy and buzzy again, we pray:
for good schools and compassionate
teachers, for healthy homes,
for clothing, food, and shelter enough
that all can thrive and grow;
for friends and neighbors, aunts and
uncles, grandparents and parents
who watch well over little ones,
that their joy in this world be complete.
