Sixty Seconds with the Superintendent

Each week, we receive questions for the Superintendent from students in pre-K through 12th grade. In this video series, Ms. Beamon will answer these questions and help our families and the community we serve get to know the leader of our public schools.

What's Cool in Our Schools

Eastbrook Elementary School Celebrates Veterans Day

Veterans Day came late to Eastbrook Elementary thanks to Hurricane Nicole. Although late, they were still able to celebrate our veterans and say, “Thank you for your service.”

The program included performances by the Eastbrook Chorus, Lake Howell Jazz Band, members of the Lake Howell NJROTC Honor Guard and even the cannon crew who fired the cannon for veterans of the past, present, and future.

The veterans were treated to a continental breakfast provided by our business partners, Action Church.

The Eastbrook community was proud to honor veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Idyllwilde Elementary Makes Reading a School-wide Partnership

Recently, 3rd graders at Idyllwilde Elementary partnered with Kindergarten students to create bonds and practice reading skills. Our littlest learners look up to the "big kids" and get so excited to spend time with them.

Fall Transition Festival Brings Families, Community Resources and SCPS Together

The annual Fall Transition Festival was held at Lake Brantley High School on Saturday, December 3. Families with students who have IEP plans, 504 plans and disabilities were able to come and explore resources, attend free informational sessions and learn about opportunities for employment, independent living and so many other supports.

The event wouldn't be the same without the awesome SCPS students who work hard making goodies to eat and our very popular "Teddy Gram Direct" custom stuffed animal venture. Rumor has it that Superintendent Beamon made a special friend with a therapy mini-horse named Ninja (yes, there are photos, visit our gallery below).
