SCRA Sponsors Governor’s Award 
SCRA annually sponsors the governor’s award for excellence in scientific research. This year’s winners received their awards at the South Carolina Statehouse this past Tuesday. They are: Dr. Tanju Karanfil , Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences, Clemson University and Dr. Robert Sindelar, Consulting Engineer & Fellow, Savanah River National Laboratory.

Other winners were: Governor’s Award for Excellence in Scientific Awareness 2021: Dr. Linda Shimizu, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of South Carolina, Governor’s Young Scientist Award for Excellence in Scientific Research 2021: Dr. Marco Ajello, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Clemson University, and Governor’s Award for Excellence in Scientific Research at a Predominately Undergraduate Institution: Dr. Eric Montie, Department of Natural Sciences, University of South Carolina at Beaufort.

SCRA thanks Dr. Keith Shah for serving on our board of trustees for more than seven years. During his time on the board he served on the nominating committee and on the programs committee. His committee assignments have left a profound and lasting effect on the work of the SCRA and South Carolina’s innovation economy.
