SCRA Announces New SC Academic Innovations Director
The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) announced that Sohail Malik was recently named Director of SC Academic Innovations.
Malik will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the SC Academic Innovations program that works with academic institutions and their affiliated startups to help advance research capabilities and commercialize technologies. The program accomplishes this by identifying market trends and validating the commercial relevance of the research and development it funds. Read more.
Tallo and Jobs for America’s Graduates Partner to Prevent a COVID-19 Driven Dropout Crisis
Jobs for America’s Graduates is partnering with Tallo, an SC Launch Portfolio Company, a digital platform that connects talent with opportunities, to stymie the number of high school students expected to drop out of school because of COVID-19. Research suggests that an additional 2%-9% percent of high school students – 232,000 ninth through eleventh graders on the low end and 1.1 million on the high – could be driven to drop out in the absence of the relationships and experiences that keep them interested in getting their diploma.
