Two SCRA funded companies, 6AM City, LLC and Modjoul, advanced to the final round of NEXT Venture Pitch 2020. Both Portfolio Companies in our affiliate SC Launch, Inc., they participated along with several other companies all vying for the grand prize, a single showcase spot at Venture Atlanta in October. |
6AM City (“6AM”) is an audience development company that’s building a disruptive local publishing technology platform that curates, packages, and distributes hyper-local content designed to maximize audience engagement. Titled as the names of [Location]Today, their sites cover local news and events for Asheville, Charleston, Chattanooga, Columbia, Greenville, Lakeland, and Raleigh.

Modjoul provides an IoT software platform that connects IoT data from employees about how they are doing their work. With their platform, Adecco and Belk have seen an over 60% reduction year over year in injuries. Modjoul is also offering a COVID-19 monitoring tool within its wearable products.

Innovate Columbia Launches, a Digital Hub for Entrepreneurial Resources

In an effort to bridge entrepreneurs with resources to expand Columbia’s innovation ecosystem, digital hub, Innovate Columbia, just launched. It is an initiative of the Midlands Business Leadership Group and will connect businesses in stages from startups to established companies to a variety of Midlands resources, including programs at the S.C. Department of Commerce, the city of Columbia, Benedict College and the University of South Carolina. Users can sort resources by business stages: ideation, validation, launch, or growth and maturity; or by category of assistance: incubator or accelerator programs, funding, guidance, or space and networking. Clemson Researchers Shed Light on the Building Blocks for Next-generation LED |
Researchers at Clemson have joined forces to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding perovskite nanocrystals, which are semiconductors with numerous applications, including LEDs, lasers, solar cells and photodetectors. Dr. Jianbo Gao, an SACT Industry neXt grant recipient, and Dr. A. M. Rao (Raja), a Maturation Matching Grant recipient, were part of the research team. Raja is also Co-Founder and CTO of SAI Global Technologies, Inc., an SC Launch Member Company. Read more.
