SCRA Announces New SC Launch Director
The SCRA has announced that Russell Cook was recently named Director of SC Launch and Executive Director of SC Launch, Inc.
Cook will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the SC Launch program which provides mentoring, networking, and grant funding to eligible companies that are employing new technologies within the life science, technology, and advanced manufacturing industries. He will also serve as the liaison to the SC Launch, Inc. board of directors, which makes capital investments in SC Launch companies that successfully complete the due diligence process. Established in 2006, SC Launch, Inc., is an independent, nonprofit corporate affiliate of SCRA. Read more.
SC Launch Client Company Selected to Participate in Fashion for Change Program
SC Launch Client Company, Confidence, by Gabby, has been selected to participate in Informa Markets Fashion for Change incubator program. This new initiative is aimed at reducing barrier-to-entry for talent within the Black fashion community. Confidence, by Gabby produced the first patented double-face, double-snap barrette (also known as “GaBBY Bows”). In addition to the bows, the company offers a Mommy and Me Entrepreneurship Academy, which gives parents and their children the opportunity to work collaboratively toward entrepreneurship through micro-franchising the GaBBY Bows business, natural hair products, the GaBBY Bows book, and more. Read more.
SCRA Participates in SBA Roundtable
SCRA Executive Director, Bob Quinn, participated in a roundtable discussion with U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator, Jovita Carranza. The topic was veteran-owned businesses, and COVID-19 related loans, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) PPP provides loan forgiveness for retaining employees by temporarily expanding the traditional SBA 7(a) loan program. EIDL provides economic relief to small businesses and non-profit organizations that are currently experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. Read more.
