Did you know that Vascular Dementia is the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer’s disease - accounting for approximately 10-20% of all Dementia diagnosis?

In this livestream, learn about the differences between Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia, how to better understand the similarities between both, and how to be prepared to care for someone with Vascular Dementia.

We are excited to share a very special milestone with you! On November 18th the County of San Diego issued an official joint Proclamation by Supervisor Paloma Aguirre and Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe recognizing November 18th as “Southern Caregiver Resource Center Day” for our ongoing commitment to providing free vital services to family caregivers throughout San Diego County.

For close to 40 years, SCRC has been committed to supporting family caregivers with direct services. Collectively with our volunteers, partners, supporters, and everyone who believes in our mission we continue helping families master the challenges of caregiving. This recognition belongs to all of you!

We invite you to join us in celebrating this moment as we continue caring for those who care for others. Thank you for standing with us and helping us strengthen our community every day.

The Waves of Giving Luncheon is more than an event: it’s a call to action. Together, we will forge new partnerships, strengthen long-standing alliances, and honor community leaders who are driving caregiver advocacy forward. This gathering unites healthcare providers, community organizations, philanthropists, and advocates around one shared mission: ensuring caregivers are never left to navigate these challenges alone.​

November is National Family Caregiver Month! We are so proud to support caregivers in San Diego and Imperial Counties. In this livestream with the California Department of Aging, we discuss California's resources for older adults, the support available for family caregivers, and the work California has outlined in the Master Plan for Aging.

SCRC's Education and Outreach team is looking for passionate interns to help connect family caregivers to vital services. If you possess the following qualifications:

• Interested in a career with a public health, community or social service agency
• Self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail oriented
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with community members
