Education Background:
BA in History and BA in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Rutgers University. MLIS Candidate at Syracuse University's School of Information Studies.
What was your work background before starting your MLIS program?
I graduated from Rutgers this past spring, where I studied History and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Digital Communications, Information, and Media. I've interned with the American Labor Museum, New Brunswick Free Public Library, and the NJ Office of Historic Sites, and I'm currently working part-time at Solvay Public Library!
What attracted you to the library profession?
I'm very passionate about accessibility, social justice, and inclusive education, and these are some of the core values of library service! I think that as a librarian, I will have the opportunity to continuously learn more about the world around me and encourage others to do the same, all while working towards information equity, open access, and inclusion.
What type of library job do you see yourself in when you finish your program?
I'm not sure yet! Most likely in the academic or public sphere, but I'm looking forward to exploring any path I can.
What projects are you working on at SCRLC?
I'll be helping to update LibGuides, getting involved with communications/social media, and attending Board Meetings.
What is one thing you would like to learn?
I'm looking forward to learning more about the various spheres of library service as well as the roles that library councils can play in strengthening individual institutions and their communities.

(Ed. note: The Lesbian Herstory Archives also has a collection that lives on New York Heritage.)
What are your favorite hobbies?
I love to crochet and knit, especially in the colder months!
Welcome on board Allison.
