Welcome, Linda Morse
Linda Morse is the NEW MedTech Office Manager for the St Cloud State at Plymouth graduate studies program. As an undergraduate, she studied studio arts at Iowa State University and most recently worked as the office manager for the Edina Art Center. She still enjoys spending time painting, printmaking, and throwing ceramics in her free time. She is also a former realtor, who loves to keep in touch with her past clients, many of whom are now close friends. She and her husband, an attorney in the insurance field, keep busy with their two Aussie mix rescue dogs. They enjoy spending time hiking on the north shore of Lake Superior, visiting local art galleries, and catching community theatre productions.

Feature Student
Mahmoud M Darwish a Master's Engineering Management student, from Egypt, currently living in Minneapolis, MN. I like spending time planning low-budget world trips which progressed into a small business. For example, I previously planned a road trip that started from Casablanca, Morocco to Shanghai, China by land & sea, a trip that took 4 weeks and cost less than $4,000.

I certainly accredit the success of my career to professor Baliga, from my first expression of interest to the program, till defending my capstone project. Throughout the journey, his leadership, experience, and connections have truly seasoned the class not to be just good professionals, yet extraordinary leaders. 

Currently, I work as Business Process Manager at a Fortune 500 medical manufacturer & distributor, Owens & Minor. My primary responsibility, is monitoring, controlling, and optimizing quality performance metrics for the distribution business, 41 Distribution centers across the nation. Since my bachelor's degree was in Electrical Engineering, with a focus in Computer & Communication.

I can confidently say that my background contributed to my role as a process improvement, and quality leader. I believe that most of the knowledge I brought to the table in my current position, in addition to my previous employment as a quality engineer at Smiths Medical came from my education through MEM. A great part of the knowledge I gained while in school was the hands-on experience at Medtronic. Professor Hiral Shah has sponsored for us multiple projects at Medtronic-ATS facility. I was honored to lead a group of highly talented students working on restructuring the dye penetration & inspection unit. A crucial part of manufacturing mechanical heart valves. The engagement with Medtronic’s engineers & Dr. Shah’s mentorship, the team was able to provide an extensive new layout design, a list of new equipment, and an implementation strategy that was able to significantly streamline the process & reduce the cycle time by 35%.

Certainly, looking back, searching for a suitable program wasn’t an easy task, when I expressed my interest, my GPA wasn’t the greatest either, yet Dr. Baliga swiftly provided me a path to enrollment and guided me every step in the way, turning a usually stressful process to a seamless one. Once admitted, with his mentorship, guidance, and tailored strategy to every student through the first semester, I was able to score a 3.93 GPA, one of the highest in class.

With the proper introductions by the academic staff, I joined & continue to be active with the American Society for Quality, Project Management Institute, and the American Society for Engineering Management.
