East Central Florida Regional Planning Council
Holds Resiliency Listening Sessions
The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC) is currently working on a Regional Resiliency Action Plan. The goal of the plan is to “increase the ability of local and regional stakeholders to implement resiliency and climate adaptation strategies across disciplines.” As part of the process the council conducted listening sessions in both Brevard and Volusia County to help identify action items, barriers, solutions, and strategies to feed into the Action Plan.

On May 8, 2018, over 60 municipal staff members, elected officials, citizens, and more attended the two Brevard "Listening Sessions." The first, titled "Collaborating for Resilience" focused more municipal technical staff points of interest, and the second session, titled "Building Economic and Social Resilience," focused more on tourism, economy, and businesses of the Space Coast.

The ECFRPC will now take what they heard and learned from the Brevard participants and feed that information into the Regional Resiliency Action Plan. They also plan to hold another public meeting in August to meet with elected officials and local leaders as part of the process.
