Sophomore pitcher Ryan Cruz (1-2) tossed his second career complete game to lead College of the Canyons to a 3-2 victory over Glendale College in the squad's conference home opener Tuesday afternoon at Cougar Field. The Cougars improved to 5-8-1 overall and 1-0 in conference, while Glendale College drops to 9-2 and 0-1 in conference play.

New Old Stuff: Hiding in Plain Sight
Charles Costler, foreman of the Triple A Ranch in Agua Dulce, led a posse on a manhunt for a cattle rustler known as the Phantom of Vasquez Rocks. The year was 1945, and the "phantom" had taken some potshots at a government trapper with a .22-caliber rifle. As Costler led the posse, armed with a .22 rifle, he bragged about his marksmanship - and the posse caught its phantom.
