Agua Dulce Resident, LAPD Detective Running for Sheriff 

Agua Dulce resident Lou Vince, a detective supervisor with the Los Angeles Police Department, is running for sheriff to bring "a broader perspective" to the Sheriff's Department, he said Thursday.

"I want to improve outcomes for people, instead of finding new and better ways to put them in jail, which is what cops are in the business of," Vince said, "and improving the county as a whole."

CEO Who Hired Hitman to Kill Wife Due Back in Court

A Canyon Country CEO charged with asking a hitman to have his model wife killed could have his trial start May 1 if things remain on schedule, according to officials with the District Attorney's Office. 

Dino Guglielmelli, 52, of Canyon Country, who founded the multimillion-dollar business Creation's Garden, was ordered to stand trial in December after being accused of trying to pay $80,000 to have his wife, Monica Andreny, killed.

Saugus Centurions Hand Hart a Loss

The Saugus baseball team did something to Hart no other team has been able to do this season. Saugus beat Hart, 6-1, handing the Indians their first loss. Hart entered the game with a perfect 4-0 record in the Foothill League. The Indians were 10-0-1 overall.

Putting the 'Country' in Canyon Country
Canyon Country was part of Saugus when this postcard was issued in the 1950s or early '60s - although the Sierra Highway corridor had its own identity as Mint Canyon. The "Canyon Country" name came along in 1963 and became official in 1968 with the new Canyon Country Post Office.
