With most of the Western States big game draws already concluded or ending soon,

now is the time to look at other options. We have a few outfitters in New Mexico and Colorado, even Wyoming with landowner vouchers, or OTC licenses available for both bull and cow elk hunts. See a few of these options within this newsletter. If you did draw a license and need a place to hunt, give us a call.

This outfitter provides one of the more challenging bison hunts in the country, we believe. These bison run on 7,000 acres of rolling hills, canyons and prairie, much like their ancestors did, and the fencing is just 4- and 5-strand barbed wire (rather than high game-proof fenced), so trophy bulls should be eligible for inclusion in the North America 29 Super Slam, as well as SCI. They are about 500 in number and you will need to stalk them. You pick the size of animal you wish to hunt, and you can use archery, black powder, rifle, or pistol. Whatever your weapon of choice, you will earn your trophy.

The hunts are conducted from mid-December to the end of February when the hides are in the best condition (there is no difference in the quality of the hunting or the hides from the start to the end of that time). He usually allows you two days, but will give you a third day if needed, which we like a bunch. Success is 100%, and the outfitter will not let you leave without your bison trophy.

Included: Meals and lodging, Guiding, Photo set up, Aberdeen, SD airport pick up/drop off, Field prep, and delivery to processer (processing generally takes up to 2 days)

Processing by their professional butcher runs between $400 and $900 depending upon the size of the bison.

For most of us, a desert sheep hunt represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and if you cannot draw a tag in the American southwest, a guided hunt in Mexico may be the only way to experience this hunt. Conducted on numerous large ranches spanning more than 80,000 acres. Dates are flexible, so clients can fly to Tucson for pickup after a good ram has been found. Rams will score from 160 and larger, with some exceptional trophies taken in recent years.

Mule deer hunters will enjoy an average size of 170"+, with realistic potential of giant bucks if luck and patience pay off, and it is no surprise this destination has one of our highest return rates of any hunt that we offer. Hunt Nation has personally hunted here many times, and the owners/operators are some of the best people you can find south of the border.

Hunt Arctic grizzly near Kotzebue in the fall season. These bears have a very wide color variation, with light blonde being most common. Bears there will average from 7 to 8 feet. Hunts are spot and stalk, glassing mountainsides and river valleys. This Kotzebue area has over the counter and registration grizzly tags! Too many bears, so no draw anymore.

Last year he went 35 for 37, with 24 of these being B&C bears. You will be hard pressed to find a better place for record book bears.

One hunter a few years ago simply sat in camp in his chair and saw 19 bears one day! They walked by at breakfast and at dinner! Needless to say he took a good one, and another they estimated at 9 feet got away. A reasonable expectation is between 7 and 8 feet. Nice thing is, due to flooding, the river valley is like walking on a sidewalk – flat and easy! The bears key on the chum salmon that run the river in droves and berries out in the open. 1x1 guiding, meals and lodging, and includes your charter flight! Tag is over the counter, pick it up in Kotzebue and outfitter assists you.

All camps are remote spike camps with outfitter-style tents for cooking, dining, and storage, and with dome tents used for sleeping quarters equipped with cots. Basic but adequate, and you will see game from your tent.

Argentina is possibly THE premiere destination for world-class wingshooting for doves and pigeons. These birds number in the millions, and have become an agricultural plague. As a result, the hunting season is year round, and it is not uncommon to shoot 1,000 or more birds per day!

This outfitter is offering a special wingshooting package in the Tras la Sierra Valley in the Province of Cordoba, surrounded by high mountains where farmers grow sunflower, corn, peanuts, sorghum and others.

This is one of the absolute best houndsman we know of. He is known far and wide as one of the best breeders and cat hound trainers in the West, and he has been doing it for nearly 30 years. His dogs do extremely well on bare ground, given any reasonable set of conditions. In snow, they are superb. Lion hunts are totally dependent on the quality of the dogs! He also has experienced hunting guides, although he conducts most of his hunts himself.

We have been using this outfit for a number of years, and over that time his success has hovered around 95%+, which is about as good as can ever be expected, since bad weather can shut the hunt down. This is an awesome average for wild lions in rough terrain. You are hunting near the famed Kaibab in northern Arizona, in some awesome canyon and mountain country with views that will not quit.

We work with a quality outfitter in central Florida (just 2-3 hrs. from either coast) that specializes in gators and Osceola turkeys (along with hogs and exotics). There are over 1 million gators in Florida, and he hunts thousands of acres of private and public land. His very high-success and affordable public land hunts are conducted on Lake Okeechobee from August 15 to October 31 and are done in the evenings using bow, crossbow, or rod & reel, while the year-round private land hunts are conducted all day and rifles can be used.

We think his public land gator hunts are exceptional, and an outstanding value. He offers evening/nighttime hunts for gators in the 6-8ft. range, as well as hunts for big trophy “dinosaur” gators of 9+ ft. He has averaged close to 11 ft. on these trophy gator hunts over the last few years, with near 100% success! But tags are very limited, so book now before it’s too late!

This Utah fly fishing lodge is truly one of the great western fly fishing lodges. Awarded the Orvis 2001 and 2012 Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year Award. This lodge is open year-round and fly-fishing and bird watching is ideal from April through November, with the peak river season being June thru October. From September thru November, they offer Cast & Blast packages at their Orvis-Endorsed Hunting Grounds, the largest hunting grounds in all of Utah. Pheasant Hunting continues all fall and winter.

Clients truly enjoy wade/walk fly fishing with some of the best guides Utah has to offer. You can experience picturesque fly fishing on Rock Creek, the Duchesne, Lake Fork, Strawberry, Uintah, Whiterocks and Yellowstone Rivers. This lodge holds the only National Forest guide permits which means you will not run into other guided fisherman on these rivers. These streams on the south slope of the High Uintas provide the excitement and challenges of catching wild trout including rainbows, cutthroat, tiger, brook and brown trout.

The pheasant hunting season on the lodge’s private preserves goes from September to the end of March. This specially managed habitat is perfect for pheasants and pheasant reproduction. The 15,000 square foot lodge was designed specifically to provide the ultimate lodging experience for secluded fly fishing and wingshooting adventures. There are only eight guest rooms in the lodge, this ensures your seclusion and privacy. 

The Wyoming elk draw deadline has passed, however if you are still looking to hunt for elk there is this unique opportunity. Not only are these cow elk tags available over the counter but you have the opportunity to purchase 2.

This hunt will take place on a 60,000 acre ranch close to the town of LaGrange about one hour north of Cheyenne. This is sold as a hotel hunt so you are responsible for lodging and meals.

They conduct bull elk hunts on this ranch and have been historically had 100% success. This will be the first year for cow elk but they expect the same results with elk being in large herds. They prefer a minimum of 2 hunters as guiding will be 2x1 and it won’t be uncommon to take multiple cows out of a herd at the same time.

This northwest New Mexico (around Chama) outfitter has been featured on numerous television shows with many well-known hunting celebrities. He is one of our absolute favorites, with a reputation for honesty, hard work and producing elk. This is a high-success hunt for 5x5 and 6x6 bulls. Most will be 270”-290”, with a few 300+”. Most are solid mature bulls, but every year is different, usually due to moisture.

These Wyoming ranchers annually are sustaining massive crop damage from marauding herds of elk of 30 to 150 animals and more. There is no time limit to apply; no points are required to draw; and there are hunt dates starting in July!!  All private lands.
