NOVEMBER 2017

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
More than 1,000 youth live on the streets of our county and those numbers are rising.

San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) works to fight the tragedies of homeless youth and youth in crisis. Founded in 1970, SDYS now provides services to more than 19,000 children and their families each year.

SDYS has the only 24-hour shelter for homeless youth in the county, drop-in centers providing resources and basic needs for struggling youth and an Outreach Team seeking out youth in need on the streets several nights a week.  Learn more and get involved at www.sdyouthservices.org.

IFMA-SD & SDBEA Give Back this Holiday Season
Help IFMA & SDBEA support Warrior Foundation Freedom Station by bringing your donations to lunch!

At our November lunch meeting, we'll be collecting food, personal care products, clothing and other items for the Warrior Foundation. These items will be distributed to local military men and women who have bravely served our country.

Collect donations at your office or on your own and for every 5 items or $5 in gift cards you bring, earn a raffle ticket for December's Holiday Luncheon. These items will be collected in yellow bins at the October and November IFMA San Diego luncheons.  Click here to view the wish list!

The Warrior Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting these warriors by, "providing quality-of-life items, support services and transitional housing designed to assist them and their families during recovery".

Auction Art Sneak Peek!

This year's IFMA SD Holiday Social is ramping up... in fact, we've already started to collect Silent Auction & Raffle donations! The artwork is an original Chinese Brush piece from an archived gallery, completed in 2013 and valued at $4,800. The frame is a satin black piano finish and spans 43" x 37".

Check it out at our December luncheon!  Looking to donate your own piece of art, silent auction item or raffle prize? Contact Rachel Willis for more information.

SDG&E's Business Tips and Tools Help Speed Disaster Recovery

A disaster such as a fire or earthquake can disrupt your business without warning, sometimes at great cost. Being prepared can help you restore operations faster and limit your losses.

You'll find the basics outlined in our four-minute video, "Emergency Preparedness for Businesses," at sdge.com/business/emergency   . Steps you should take include: developing a written plan; training staff; practicing emergency procedures; stocking emergency supplies; maintaining defensible space; backing up and storing information securely off site; and periodically testing equipment, such as electric generators and smoke detectors.

Visit  ready.gov/business  for tools you can use to develop or improve a disaster preparedness program for your business. You'll find an automated disaster recovery plan tool in the business continuity planning software, and a series of business continuity training videos.
