"Tis the time to expect miracles!"

Dear Southern Door Community,
If your house is like ours, this season brings lots of holiday movies including those which have stood the test of time like "It's A Wonderful Life," "Miracle on 34th Street." These movies and the memories of our family traditions usually confirm our need to believe that miracles are possible and yes, within our reach. The dictionary says that a "miracle" can be a wonderful occurrence that "beats the odds" or "something of great and unusual value." Some might say that our being able to still be in school five days a week during this pandemic is a "miracle" itself. We have definitely shown that we are beating the odds. This is truly a place of students, staff, and families who have continued to do great things.

The needs in our families and communities are even greater this year. If you would like to consider supporting some of our projects here at school by donating new toys, buying new winter clothes for our Caring Closet, or making donations of grocery gift cards for us to give to families in need, we welcome your generosity. Just connect with one of our principals if you would like to help, because as a Southern Door community, we are there for each other and We Are Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!

Yours in Education!
Patti

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPONSORS TOYS FOR TOTS
"Hello Southern Door families! Please assist the Southern Door Middle School student council as they partner with Door County for the 'Toys for Tots' program. Please consider donating a new toy (boy or girl toy) to a child in need.
We have two stations set up in the middle school where your child can drop off the toy! The two stations are the present box in front of the office, or any of the green boxes in the middle school resource area. This is a great cause, and will especially be helpful during a year like this! Thank you"
"COLORFUL AND SUNNY MURAL"
This school-wide collaboration mural was created by every student in 4K through 4th grades and now hangs in the Elementary hallway near the Art Room.

Student artists created their own "Dot" artwork inspired by the story "The Dot" illustrated and written by Peter H, Reynolds. This story shared how we all need a bit of COURAGE to begin and share our ideas with art and with other forms of expression.

Southern Door student artists drew "Something That Helps Me SMILE" on their own individual dot to add to the group mural. It is our hope that looking at this artwork will help anyone who may need a bright spot on a dark or difficult day.
AUDITORIUM PRESENTS FREE HOLIDAY VIRTUAL CONCERT FEATURING ELI MATTSON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2020 AT 7PM
Join the Southern Door Community Auditorium virtually as we welcome back Wisconsin's very own Eli Mattson for his “Home for The Holidays” free virtual concert on December 12, At 7:00 PM. Brought to international attention as the second place winner on season three of America’s Got Talent, Mattson has fans spanning the globe begging for more music.

His powerful, yet intimate voice is unique and unexpected, and his piano playing is an extension of his soul. He has a charismatic aura about him, and sings with deep soulfulness. His original songs are deeply personal, beautifully composed, and lyrically rich. Eli will perform some favorite Christmas songs as well as some of his originals & amp covers.

Mattson began pursuing music in earnest after his family moved to Door county. After America’s Got Talent, he pursued a promising career until the pressures and a persistent back injury forced him to take a break from performing live. Eli has returned to play again, having learned to live with the injury, and is performing online concerts. Join us in celebrating the holidays with Eli’s smoky, soulful voice and uncanny piano skills.

Sponsored by our wonderful partners at Door County Medical Center, this live stream event is available at no charge to the public by going to the Southern Door auditorium website at  http://southerndoorauditorium.org/stream.html.
