"The greatest gift is the passion for reading.
It is cheap, it consoles, it excites,
it gives you knowledge of the world
and experience of a wide kind. . ." Hardwick

Dear Southern Door Community,
This week we celebrate National Read Across America Week. While we take time this week to place a special focus on the love of reading in many forms, the digital Read Across America calendar provides lots of suggestions for diverse books, reading activities and events, reading tips for parents and guest readers, and booklists to help connect children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures and spread the joy of reading.

There are a number of great opportunities here at school to get books into the hands of our children. In addition to the collections in our English Language Arts classrooms, we have our own wonderful elementary/middle and high school libraries for student and staff use. The annual Scholastic Book Fair will be online this year with news on how to access this virtual event, coming in the next couple of weeks.

The Door County Public Library has announced that starting March 1st, they are changing to Library Express, welcoming the walk-in public at all 8 branches for limited browsing, computer use and printing services. The popular call-in Pickup Service will also continue for those who prefer a contactless library experience.
Services available at your local branch, which include the one in Forestville are::
  • Limited Walk-in Access — Browsing (30 min.) or Tech Access (1 hour), per day.
  • Pickup Service continues, call your local branch to arrange a time.
  • Remote Printing is available at each branch, visit their individual pages at this link to submit your print job and then come in to pay, print and pickup.
  • Sign-up for a new library card. Then go to your local branch to finish the forms and receive your card.
  • Click here for more information specifically about the Forestville library.

Yours in Education,
Patti
