Dear Southern Door Community,
It's hard to believe that the start of school is just a little over six weeks away. This year is like no other, and it's understandable that everyone seems anxious to have all the answers now, as if school starts tomorrow. Just like other local schools, our planning efforts need to remain flexible and be responsive to the continuing change of information regarding the pandemic. Many local schools in the area are sharing basic information about the models they will use to educate students, with more details to come as the start of school nears on September 1st.
Families should be watching for an Infinite Campus messenger email from the district on Monday. This email will include a one-page flyer of some key information regarding Southern Door's reopening of school. There will also be a link to a parent survey to assist us in our planning. Parents will be asked to select which of the two options being offered - either on-site face-to-face 5 days a week or full remote learning, they desire. If a parent desires full remote learning, they will be contacted by an administrator to have a conversation about their needs so that a personalized remote learning plan can be developed. If a parent is unable to choose an option at this time, they can also indicate that they would like an administrator to contact them so that their personal questions can be answered. Parents will also be asked to indicate whether or not they plan to have their students ride the bus to school.
On Tuesday, families will receive a second Infinite Campus messenger email with specific details regarding the opening of registration on Wednesday, July 22nd. If families are new to the district or need assistance to register their children, they can call their respective school office to make an appointment anytime between now and mid-August.
The successful reopening of school is going to take the efforts of everyone – students, staff, families, and community. We know that if we all work together, our partnership will create a reopening that is Eagle Strong and Eagle Proud!
Have a great week!
Patti
