"The sky belongs to eagles, even during storms."
Dhliwayo
Dear Southern Door Community,
The safety of staff and students is the District’s highest priority. This past week has been a challenging one with the minute to minute changes in the local, state, and national landscape regarding the Covid-19 health concern and its impacts on us as a school and community.
The District will hold school on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17. This aligns closely with Governor Evers’
Executive Order
yesterday to close Wisconsin schools. Starting March 18 there will be no school, on-site classroom instruction, athletics/activities (including practices), before and after school programs, etc. until April 6, 2020. Staff will report for professional development on Wednesday, March 18 to plan alternative education activities for students.
District leadership is in regular contact with local and state health, safety, and education officials. They have been working this weekend to ensure we address the needs of our students, and families. More information will be shared in the next few days. Parents should monitor their email, and make sure your contact information is up to date in our Infinite Campus student information system. If you need assistance, please call your child’s school office. Finally, know that resources on the District website's
Emergency Preparedness
tab
are available to assist you in your efforts to keep your family healthy.
Our children need our guidance to put this surreal situation in perspective, especially when the life they are used to in school, and their participation in so many special activities, have now been significantly curtailed. Perhaps this is a time, when we all step back, and help each other appreciate the important things in life, like our health, our family, and our friends!
Even though there are many unanswered questions at this time, we will do everything that is possible to try to mitigate the factors that are within our control, and keep everyone informed.
As cited above, "the sky belongs to eagles, even during storms." May we all use our Eagle strength as a school and community to rise above this storm and bring hope to those in our care and to those around us so we remain Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
Patti
Patricia Vickman, Superintendent
