Eagle Scout Project
9/11 Memorial
Sixteen-year-old Life Scout Ryan T. is turning his Eagle Scout service project into a lasting tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Inspired by a fire station visit and a trip to Ground Zero, Ryan designed and helped build the “One Event, One World” 9/11 Peace Memorial at Webb Park in Rancho Bernardo.
The memorial features an olive tree symbolizing peace, a reflection area overlooking the lake, and a miniature Twin Towers memorial with commemorative plaques. Ryan and members of his Troop 1648 also helped with portions of the construction, including preparing the site, laying rebar, mixing concrete, and planting a tree.
The memorial will be dedicated Saturday at 9 a.m. at Webb Park, 11666 Avena Place, and all are welcome to attend.
